Our Opinions differ then..You may not give a shit. I do. I`d be more than happy to give another the opportunity of going to the Amex if I couldn`t go. Many can`t afford a season ticket.. indeed a lot of people can`t warrant a £50 one off ticket.
A couple of obnoxious Arsenal fans got ejected from the Family Stand last night.

I like to think that the club rinsed them for cash for their 70mins or so of entertainment.

... and that some Albion fan hadn't given them the "opportunity of going to the Amex" on the cheap/for free.

I think our STs have been sold out every year in the Premier League, haven’t they?

Club needs to keep a few thousand tickets available for new fans or those that can’t commit to 19 games a year. It becomes a closed shop otherwise.
I think this summer they went on general sale and if they did sell out, they needed a push. I suspect we have more general sale seats available than previous seasons, but happy to be corrected on that.

Yes, because Data Modelling is a well known weak spot in Tony Bloom led organisations.

Saw a post on FB from someone I know …Arsenal fan. In the East Stand.

He didn’t have any club colours but the bright red hat wasn’t exactly subtle.

Just wrong.

It’s all very well the club getting prickly about STH not attending or listing their ticket on exchange. But this is the reason I would not put it on exchange for a match against Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea etc and try to transfer it to a F & F member.

I can’t go to every home match as I have a life too.

They sold out at end of May.
The renewal rate was 95% - I think the highest ever.

If they were sold by the club there are significant questions to be asked. I would imagine that passing tickets on are more likely to not be gained by away fans seeing how many have managed to get them through the club including 4 who bought my tickets on the exchange last april

It is highly unlikely a gooner in a red hat would be able to pick up a ticket on the exchange.
If they did, and were thrown out, they are an idiot and won't be allowed to buy again.
And if they did it is down to the club, not the person putting the ticket on the exchange.
You concerns are entirely unwarranted

So they would have had to register as Albion fans to buy your tickets.
It is impossible to legislate against liars.
Till they are caught for being arse-hats, if the act like arse-hats, and thrown out, of course.

My point is that fan policing seems more reliable than club policing at the moment

How do you know?
You would need to know the provenance of all of the ticket sales to all of the away fan nobbers who don't stay incognito during a game.
I am unsure the data are available, but am happy to stand corrected if it is.

My concerns aren’t on me being responsible for the behaviour of a random, just don’t want a random there in the first place.

And excuse me for being dumb but all he needs is a membership and he can buy….?

Yes, someone signs up for an Albion+ membership - which they'll need to pay an annual fee for. If they then out themselves as an away fan and get kicked out, no doubt their membership will be cancelled and they will be blacklisted. I'm not sure what else the club can do - other than require someone to go the ground, swear allegiance to the Flag of Sussex and take a 3 hour exam.

I wouldn't give a ticket to an away fan as the people I sit with would give me pelters next game. The club don't have that peer pressure

Yes, you can of course guarantee that the person in your seat will be not be a random fan if you always transfer to F&F.

So to be clear you presumably object to a random using your seat even if they are an Albion fan.
Unless you can guarantee to be able to transfer your seat to an F&F person you know if you can't go, the only alternative would be to leave the seat empty.

Isn't denying the opportunity of a random Albion fan the chance to buy your seat for a game not a little mean spirited?

And of course this has nothing to do with the main conversation, which is about non-Albion fans having it large in the home seats.

But ticket sharing IS easy - your friends just need to be Albion+ members.
And pay for the privilege of paying to attend. It’s a racket but then everything is these days. Wasn’t always but we accept so what does it matter. But that’s why so many seats are empty, if you’re wanting an answer that is.

For that argument to have currency you would need to establish that the club knowingly or negligently allow away fans to buy seats in the home sections, and knowingly or negligently are happy for them to reveal their allegiance at the match. You know that most of that is absurdly not the case, with families not allowed entry if their kid is wearing an away top.

If they do so negligently (I presume you are not accusing them of doing so knowingly) and you consider this unacceptable the ONLY solution would be to interview every applicant who wishes to become eligible to buy tickets to ensure they are genuine Albion supporters.

This is not really practicable is it, and even if you had to complete a quiz or something to get on the registered fans list (the list of the only people who can legally buy tickets in the home seats) it would be easy to blag your way in. So there has to be an element of trust.

If the trust is breached the interloper will be chucked out.
I am not talking about Brightonians who support another club who become registered so they can buy a ticket to see their team, in home seats, and who behave themselves and don't reveal their allegiance.

So I think your argument about the club not having 'peer pressure' is a tad flimsy.

I think the process is fine - occasional away fans cheat the system and buy a ticket off the club using their name, and act like a cock and are chucked out and banned. I can live with that.

Likewise I don't advocate the police breathysing every person every time they get into a car in order to end drink driving once and for all.

Don't be tempted to conflate the above with the situation when someone passes on a ticket illegally, using a burner phone or suchlike. We saw some idiot bleating a couple of years ago when they did this and had their season ticket removed.

There seems to be a huge amount of criticism of the club on this thread based upon taking an extreme view about issues that are quite nuanced and, frankly, first world type problems

Or two flags…which is East, which is West.

The club are in a tricky position but they can start to build a profile of these sort of attendees to understand their behaviour and why they’re not converting these ‘supporters’ into regular attendees or STHs. Or is it that they just attend our home matches against Arsenal.

There’s still the same message from the club about away tickets going to those fans loyal enough to have earned the rights to those tickets. Yet at home it’s bums on seats?

I still can’t get my head around why a season ticket holder has to pay to share their ticket (more than once) with someone that has paid £38 to become an Albion + member.

Precisely.

I suspect one or two posters have taken a misapprehension and woven a hypothetical narrative around it to create some sort of weapon with which the feel the must use to beat the club.

There really is no need for it.

Keep your powder dry, lads till something genuinely bad happens.
Remember the story of the boy who cried Wolf!

Anyway, time for telly soccer now. Ta ra!
