Corden is also a terrible actor. The other characters are played much more convincingly.
Corden was superb in The History Boys, both the NT production and the movie. Also great in One Man Two Guvnors at the NT. Not seen him in anything else but his acting talent was certainly on show in these 3 things I’ve seen him in.

Sussex but not by the sea
This should have a been a one series 'sit-com' at best, that first series was quite fresh and quite funny.
It would not have seen the light of day in the 70s, 80s or even 90s.
The 2 main characters are now not very funny. All the guy who plays Gavin has got is that 'weird' face he pulls.
Corden's character hasn't progressed at all and is now totally unbelievable.
Nessa is the only one who is actually still funny.
Gavin's parents need a good slap.
Sherdan Smith is also 'quite' funny but at least is a good actress, I wonder how much they had to pay her to return for her 1 minute cameo?

Apart from that it was great.

Yes he is a nasty person who talks down to most people (family included). But if someone who is the polar opposite like Ruth jones can work with him then who am I to argue
Money is probably the answer to your second sentence.

I've witnessed JC's behaviour first hand on a flight to London from Johannesburg. He was just so unbelievably rude to passengers and crew. The woman he was with, who I presume was his wife, was essentially just apologising for him for a lot of the flight.

I thought Matthew Horne looked like he had been using Botox to try and look younger, the area around his eyes.
Round the Horne?

Can I be the third to say I've never watched a single episode, and can't comprehend why anyone would (and I've watched every episode of Miranda for fark's ache!).
:wink::lol:

JC may be an absolute c-unit, but he definitely had a good thing going Stateside and it must have been a hard decision walking away from that level of fame/exposure.

This seems to be the common theme. I find it quite hard to get past this when it comes to being entertained by him.

In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

Thought it was magnificent, a real warm way to end Christmas Day
Absolutely. They gave us the ending we wanted, and without wishing to be too melodramatic and/or pathetic and/or sounding like Crodo, the ending the country needed. Real feel-good TV, and if it wasn't your thing then fair enough. Millions of us loved it though.

EDIT: And my brother-in-law, who hasn't lived in Britain for over forty years and hadn't seen a single episode, thought it was great.

Massively overrated show.
My Mrs watched it yesterday, I was watching football but could hear everything and there wasn't anything funny about it.
It's down there with Mrs Brown's boys.

If you’ve never watched a single episode, what right have you got to judge whether anyone else would want to watch it?

Gavin and Stacey is the televisual equivalent of a pint of Carling in a pub or a chicken Tikka Massala in an Indian Restaurant.

It’s comedic value is that if the wittiest joke in a box of Aldi Christmas crackers.

Not every TV show has to be Line of Duty or whatever floats your boat.

Sometimes there’s nothing wrong with slipping on your favourite, slightly tatty slippers to just relax on the sofa. Especially at Christmas.

West is BEST
I can see why people don’t like it. But I do.

I love Gone Fishing and Detectorists that seem universally adored.

I hate outnumbered, Mrs Browns Boys and Miranda.

I like James Cordon in G&S, I think he’s a bellend in real life.

It’s almost as if there’s nuance to personal taste.

I agree. There is definitely a place for it on the menu. Catering for the masses.
