as someone enjoys Gavin & Stacey, i couldn't buy into the main story. what does Smithy bring to that relationship, and he's not even been changed by her? he'd have been off with Nessa years ago.

Because it was filmed in Newport?! I saw a suitably sensationalist news story online earlier about 'fuming' residents up in arms that THE REAL Southampton wasn't used...
They are going to be furious when they find out that the Shipman’s bungalow is not in Essex but between Cardiff and Barry.

There's quite a few on here that loved it... me included.

And would rather watch a repeat of it than watch Coldplay if I'm honest :ROFLMAO:

That’s my point. I loved it and knew I would. I’m puzzled by any negative comments. (But like Coldplay there’s no accounting for taste)

And I’d rather watch a repeat of Last Of The Summer (O)Wine than watch Coldplay if I’m honest

I enjoyed it but felt it lacked somewhat, probably to be expected after all this time though.

I found everyone's faces to be quite distracting, a yts make up artist it a job lot of botox on set?

Still gotta love G & S.

Not so much with Coldplay, they are bang okay.

The programme itself is good but well overrated by some people in the same way Friends was. Also cannot stand Corden.

Thought yesterday's one was really well done though tbh. A tad predictable but why change a winning formula? I enjoyed it.

Having always been a fan of Gavin and Stacey, I was prepared to be disappointed….. but it exceeded my expectations enormously.

I’m no great fan of James Corden, but have to acknowledge his part in creating it. But the whole cast is excellent, a personal favourite being Larry Lamb as Mick. But Ruth Jones as Nessa stands out, both as Co-creator and for her performance. Whereas Corden is just playing himself, she is very different in real life.

The review in the Guardian (which I haven’t yet read) gave it 5 stars and highlighted poignant and bittersweet moments, so Mrs DiS tells me. It’s very human and honest, in my view.

Not surprised to see some of the negative comments about James Corden. It’s always the case when someone British is a success that the haters come out. Last night was the best thing shown on the BBC (certainly for comedy) for a very very long time. Corden is seriously talented but has maximised the absolute most of it. That is to be applauded. Well done James Corden.

One of the beauties of G&S is the perfect casting. Everyone fits and are very believable.

I also highly recommend a trip to Barry Island. Or Barry’s Island as Pam likes to call it.
Nonsense. There’s lots of successful Brits who don’t get criticized. The reason I don’t like Corden is 1) I don’t find him entertaining or funny and 2) I think he’s quite a nasty piece of work when he wants to be.

Yes he is a nasty person who talks down to most people (family included). But if someone who is the polar opposite like Ruth jones can work with him then who am I to argue

My negative comments about James Corden were nothing to do with his success. They were because he is an absolute ****. In fairness he is such a supreme **** that it is worthy of acknowledgement. Fair play, if you are going to be a **** you might as well be the biggest **** possible. And he is.

...and I quite like a couple of Coldplay songs.

I know people who have worked with him and they consider him to be an utter ****.
Blimey sounds personal

Corden is also a terrible actor. The other characters are played much more convincingly.

I was shocked by the amount of 'work' she'd had done..
In fairness that would suit the character as well. Perhaps she's been method acting

I thought Matthew Horne looked like he had been using Botox to try and look younger, the area around his eyes was very unnatural
