most chinese dishes seem to be packed out with huge chunks of onion -
You should come to my manor. One takeaway I had contained a whole onion. Not a one off.

The Chinese are better with veg, and don't use tomatoes, so there's my preference.

I don't mind either but Curry is the clear winner. Unfair to call curry slop and all the same. You obviously haven't tried the right dishes or gone to the right places as there's a huge range if you ignore the "Traditional curries" section.
I have been to many places for curry. Far and wide. From excellent quality to the grubbiest provincial drunk stop-off.

I regard it all as foul tasting slop.

I’m glad others don’t feel the same. I want people to enjoy their food.

It’s not for me, Clive.

Chinese every time.

Curry is hugely overrated slop.

I quite like some of the sundries, accompanying dips and sauces but the main is all just slight variations on the same boring flavours.

I don’t mind having a curry out. I don’t find it offensive but I do always feel that behind the waiter’s smiles there is a raging hatred for all British, from the old days of the Raj to the rude drunken slobs who frequent their restaurants today.
But they're are mainly from Bangladesh!

If you can find a really great curry place, it’s superior to just about anything

But there are a lot of bang average curry places out there, whereas most Chinese places are consistently good

Too much gluten and salt in Chinese food. Always feel thirsty a while after eating it.
I do eat it at times, but not as much as Indian.

My first Chinese takeaway was from the Nanking in Market Street. My parents used to take me there from the age of 5, but they would sometimes order and collect. Curry, Rice and Noodles if I remember correctly. My first Indian takeaway was not until I was about 18 and that was from the Gullistan in Preston Road. Still never tasted a better chicken dhansak.

Chinese food is full of monosodium glutamate. My mother, wife and daughter are all allergic to it we discovered as they projectile vomited in the street after the meal the last time we had a Chinese, which was fun

Previously when not eating together they had presumed it was just a dodgy meal after a post meal throw up

No Chinese food in any of the houses for decades because of it,

MSG is found in natural products like tomatoes and cheese. Do your family projectile vomit after eating Italian food? Or is it just Chinese? 🤔

Nope, just Chinese, although I do know people whose lips/tongues swell up after eating tomatoes

Couldn't choose between the 2 and thankfully don't have to. As a rule, the standard of Indian food in the UK is better than Chinese. That is changing due to the influx of Chinese students though

the idea of a Chinese is always better than the Chinese itself, have to drink 2 litres of water through the night after one. Curry all the way

MSG is a racist myth from the 70s/80s

Agreed. I add MSG to loads of things and none of my dinner guests have suffered ill effects. My partner's dad was slagging MSG the other day and I was tempted to tell him the meal, cooked by me, he'd enjoyed the night before had a healthy dose of it 😆
