I don't see what that has to do with anything, I was just saying I wouldn't play chicken with a bus. Leave my personal life out of it.

Used to work at the Royal Sussex, and A&E there was regularly targeted by some div or other from the Donald Hall Flats, bricks thrown at windows . staff abused, vehicles vandalised, Arson, pellet gun sniping and thefts...from a f**king Hospital!

I have come to the conclusion that these kids must feel completly outside of the rules that hold things together, whether they feel that the rules don't apply to them or that there are no consequences if they behave badly, dunno.

Mixture of both then I suppose, society letting them get away with it and lack of parental/peer control.

Believe me this has gone on for so long now it will take a generation to put it right, Delinquent, feral kids from broken homes and a reliance on benifit and crime are not going to produce productive members of society when they have their own kids.

Yeah, but it's easier to blame the parents.

Yes isn't it ? Mind you how the hell are people like me to blame ? Oh yes, that's right I haven't been allowed to get involved in any World Wars which might be why.

No, if society is to blame then its because it doesn't crack down hard on those people who choose to live outside of what most people would call acceptable behaviour and in so doing make life difficult (to put it mildly) for those who have a grasp of right and wrong.

Chavs lack discipline and and if they got some they might see the light.

Without wishing to sound like a grumpy old fart (although I am one), I think the problem lies with the fact that they have no respect for anyone or anything anymore, and as far as comitting crime and anti-social behaviour goes, that includes no respect for the police. Christ, when I was young, if a policeman so much as looked as if he was coming to tell me off or anything, I'd've poohed my pants. The kids now simply laugh at the police because they know they are powerless to discipline them.

Yeah, birch 'em, or lock 'em up, that'll sort it out.

At the very least if would make them very clear what society sees as right or wrong and hopefully make them think twice before doing it again.

Naturally if would make their victims feel better I'm sure.

I'm with Davey C on this one, give them all a hug I say.

That as well.

It's just sad that the police are only going to act when it gets to the point where someone is killed. Sounds a bit melodramatic, but I'm sure a major part of the Police's job is to prevent crime or at least do something when it is committed...or am I being naive. By not scaring the shit out of these kids they're just making themselves a laughing stock and therefore becoming accessories to the inevitable conclusion of an innocent member of the public getting hurt.

Sure but do you think that anybody who thinks anti social behaviour is acceptable will take much notice of the Police ? Maybe if one of them did get killed it might make the rest see the folly of playing 'chicken' with a bus but somehow I doubt it.

I might nick a bus and go rampaging round Whitehawk taking out as many as I can. 'Sorry guvnor, the little bastards were all lying in the road. I just didn't see em.'

Interesting call by the police to publicise it in the press, would have thought there was a danger of copycat behaviour. They must feel there is community/parenting resources out there that could be woken up to stop these foolish kids before they hurt themselves.

I think it's our post-modern society that is to blame. Nobody cars about bus drivers feelings anymore.

Whats the borderline between "laugh at" and "refuse to let f*** you around with made up rules and bullshit excuses". Cause I did the latter a LOT with the cops here when I was younger, and I've never laid down in front of a bus or stoned one either for that matter. Cops assume they can patronise, lie to and completely control anyone under the age of about 16.
