We try and get a small white ball into 4.25 Inches Diameter in size where as footballers try and get a ball into an eight feet high and eight yards wide frame, Which would you say is harder

I really like the guy, and I know he loves the club and has been a great loyal servant over the years, but I think we'd all admit he was a bit limited in his ability as a player, despite the fact that he always gave 100%... Does anyone else think he may possibly be a bit lacking in his coaching skills given the quality of some of the players now at the club? Does it make any difference - do you have to be a good player to become a good coach? With the ability some of our players possess I do wonder if Charlie is the best person they can learn from...

WTF?? We lose one game and people start posting shite like this. Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho weren't exactly great players

I think Charlie is here for a long time

Would you fancy telling him that he wasn't needed any more ?

Not being horrible just saying how it is. If you worked with your new boss and did'nt like how they were going about things would you tell him/her or just keep quite and except their way of doing things otherwise you could be looking for another job?

Anyone would toe the line and stay in the job they love.

Being an arguementative bar-steward I would be on my bike!! but I think Charlie is 'onside' mate unlike us yesterday!!!

What??
Oatway certainly had more of a playing career than many world class managers and coaches.
Players will listen to him because they are paid to do so. And, i have no doubt that they also do so because he is a bloody nice bloke and, more importantly, passionate and hard working.
We're top of the league and people are questioning Oatway? Pretty odd this.

I may have misunderstood your original post but i thought you were saying that a senior pro couldn't be improved through coaching, but I think El Abd has shown that they can dramatically so. obviously the talent still had to be there somewhere though.

Just had my sunday roast--I know its late but my missus works on sundays -- I have got to an age when I can not believe there is any more to be learnt about coaching and tactics. In five/ten years time are there gonna be any world changing stuff that fans will say 'why havent we been doing this? There are two goal nets and you have to by hook or crook get the fecking ball over the line. Very similar to 1901 I think?

I see what you mean, yes I agree. I should think most of the advances left to be made are in diet our fitness rather than coaching. Just had our roast too btw, prefer it in the evening :)

After forty years of cooking (and plumbing) I could give 'Jamie' a run for his money

It's probably because he was a shit player that Wenger has never managed to improve any of his players ???

I agree with you and Leon Knight that you should never take advice from someone who is not as good as you.

Is that why Leon Knight never listened to anyone around him - in his (deluded) belief that no one was as good as he was?
