Bringing your own food and drink to the Amex!
I know there's a thread on this somewhere but can't find it anywhere. Are you allowed to do this in a bag? Was going to bring some treats / water in my bag for the kids tonight - never had to worry about it before so thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer...

Certainly bring some drinks for the kids as a minimum, even if only as a backup. With the size of the catering queues they are otherwise likely to get seriously thirsty.

The suggestion on the other thread to take frankfurters in a wide necked flask with some rolls is bloody genius.

Mystic Meg time: A baking hot day and with no home game til Sat 10 Sep I'm expecting the Amex to run out of lager before the final whistle and run out of pies by half-time.

But the downside was a second visit.A mate came in late and i was in the queue for a 2nd pint so he wanted a pie and pint.
Asked for a pie and pint deal and a single pint, but the deal wasnt done, £12-50 so bit my tongue cos of a massive queue behind.
Not sure if its the till or the operatives.....although the pie was brilliant,.......still a shitty catering experience.

This is illegal, if they have an offer the till MUST calculate at the price of that offer, removing the risk of human error.

We always used that one, the girl in charge was superb as if there was anything they didn't have she would run of to another kiosk to collect it. But no longer.

Queues a lot better tonight but service terrible, took 5 minutes to order a pie, pint and twix and then got overcharged, it appears that the pizza outlet in the North Stand sells beer but they don't advertise it.

The thing I do not understand is why in a world with so much cashless technology do we only have a quarter of the tills that have a card reader??!!!!

That's an easy one. The catering company are TIGHT and are trying to avoid paying the price of cards. Really annoys me! Twice as many cash tills than card, and twice as slow.

They should be encouraging card to speed up the queues and sell more. The number one factor at the ground that constrains spending is the queues.

Most people will pay with cash if the queue is shorter, or they happen to find themselves in a cash queue without realising and they know it.

I asked for the NSC consensus on this previously but seemed to be in the minority. The ageing, working class football fan prefers to deal in cash too apparently. ;)

This is really annoying - contactless debit cards are the way forward.....every till should accept them

Wouldn't help me tonight mind, stuck listening to Warren on player in an airport lounge :-(

Where have the Harvey's wagons gone from the north? If there was anyone with half a brain at sodexo they would realise that dedicated beer lines such as the above would dramatically improve service. The amount by which people ordering food and, worse, hot drinks slows the queues down is huge

The 'cash only' and 'all cards accepted' signs reappeared above the south end WSL kiosk tonight. 1 till was cards, the rest cash, why? Contactless is surely the norm these days, it can't all be about the caterers trying to save a few quid on card charges can it?

My frustration compounded by the man in front of me who took 5 mins to order 2 hot drinks and some crisps and then despite having a contactless card chose to put his pin in (which he incorrectly entered on the first time of asking).

That's it, they win, I'm bringing cash in future.

Spot on, lager and small queues because not many like gnats piss. Bring back the Sussex Bitter to the wagons.

Is it? My card isn't contactless (as I found out when I tried a London Underground barrier). There doesn't seem to be a way of getting them, either your bank offers one or doesn't.

Thought the queues were shocking tonight, fortunately it was something for my daughter and she missed the first five minutes of the second half. Not sure how a queue moves so slowly

Learned my lesson the other night and abandoned the non-moving WSU sauna queues.

Instead I went to Dicks and bought a couple of pints for me and my lad, which we then took outside to enjoy in the sunshine. Its the future (until the weather turns at least).

Tried the chicken in a box last night which was excellent. They forgot the the coleslaw, but I didn't, and that was really good too.

Interesting points about contactless cards. Surely all the big banks have contactless cards available now, although I know some credit cards, such as M & S don't. As for Cash only, this always looks like a new business or market stall mentality. Banks usually charge more to handle cash than electronic transactions.

10 minute queue pre match in West Lower- no butter chicken pies but I'll get over it. Made me chuckle to see after the match all the pie warming stores were then rammed full of pies. I asked if they ever sell any off cheap when they have so many left- 'nah, they all get chucked In the bin' was the response.

I wonder if there is a charity or something who might want to collect all that food going to waste? There must be loads of it some days.
