Capello as manager?

Lampard's been at it, as usual. Apparently, Capello is right for the job because he's a big name and the England job is the biggest job in world football.

Look, Lampard, you prize idiot - if Capello is right for the job, it's because he's a superb manager. The England job is NOT the biggest job in world football - not by a long way - and 'big name' is a crap criterion. I suppose it suits Lampard's general approach - stars matter, fans don't, so f*** off (a rough precis of pretty much every post-match interview he has given regarding England). Every time that twat opens his gob, I hate him that little bit more.

First thing Capello should do is clear out the spiv millionaires of The Golden Generation and recruit players with an absence of ego who are happyto run all day for the shirt. Nearest recent example was when Gareth Barry and Emil Heskey and probably a couple of others also were drafted in and they did an excellent job. Time to ditch the snides with books to sell. They could do a lot worse than look at how Scotland prepare for a game.

Can anyone tell me what England's next fixtures are? I have heard something about a friendly in France, and someone on here says there is a game against Switzerland. Are they confirmed? Also, have the fixtures for the world cup group been sorted yet?
Home to Switzerland in February, away to France in March.

It is irrelevant who the manager is.....neither Capello or anyone else will turn the ever decreasing pool of huff-and-puff merchants we currently have into the skillful players that are needed to win a tournament.

The team is pants. End of. Surround an Enlgand player with european talent and he looks good....surround an England player with other England players and he looks rubbish......I wonder why?

I refer you all to my previous post.

Capello is not really similar to Sven, he's not afraid to drop "big" players, he doesn't take shite from anyone, all that WAG crap surrounding the last World Cup, that would NEVER happen with Capello.

Lets hope so.

I bet he plays Lampard and Gerrard Central....

I like the way as soon as a new manager gets a job, all the players who are worried about their places in the team come out and say what a great manager they are!

He wont drop Terry for Woodgate, the bloke is a sicknote end of.
And on top of that he isnt as good as Terry anyway.

Defence isnt the problem, when our players are available, remember that.
Its our midfield and forward line that needs sorting.

If Owen is fit, the forward line has goals in it, the problem is there no back up to Owen, as none of Bent, Defoe or Johnson have shown anything to suggest they are international players.

I told you Barwick would deliver and you all scoffed.

Well done Brian from an appreciative and passionate Englishman.

One of Lampard or Gerrard needs to be worried, from what the Guardian was saying, Capello will play a holding midfielder.
I'd say it's fairly likely he'll play two.

Although he's not a manager who only ever plays one system, Roma played 3-5-2, Juventus played 4-4-2, Madrid played 4-2-3-1...

It's gonna be interesting to see who he picks that is for sure. :)

He will be very upset to find our players are not good enought to play anything but 442

I am not sure he is as entrenched in 4-4-2 as Sven and McLaren were, that is for sure.

He needs to pick a keeper and give him a run and he needs to give Walcott some games, to see if he can be back up to Owen, for the minute.

I can see Robinson being Number 1 still, He is coming back into form.
