In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

Me neither. Or any of the other 'person above you' threads or any other spurious 'increase-your-post-count' thread.

Only footie and serious stuff from me! (Mostly).

Lots of Handbags flying around, a view from me

Seems to be alot of tension flying around here lately, whether it be bitchin' at people, threads which people deem "not worthy" for NSC, highly charged threads like the Racist one or New Forum one. Coupled with the poor displays of our beloved team and lack of decent news (Falmer inquiry next month remember & Kanchelskis was the only talking point the other few weeks)

I think there comes a time when people need to just sit back and chill, maybe dont post/read NSC for a week or two, go read a book or enjoy time with your (I hate this phrase) "real life" friends.

Either way theres alot more out there than NSC true...but we all do enjoy this place for the news/banter/off topic discussion, so if someone is posting abuse then just report them and the mods that be will deal with them, if it all gets too much go have a cuppa tea and rest your mind or surf to another forum for awhile, the internet is a magical place full of pretty much everything so go and loose yourself for awhile in the glory of what we use at "work" everyday - the 'net!

Meopham, Kent.
My "New Forum" thread was meant to be tongue in cheek, just a dig at how little football talk there was at the moment, but it did appear to hit a nerve or 2.

Maybe someone should design a smiley with a board saying

'this post is a wind up'

Look, guys.

This is yet another new thread on a topic that is being perfectly well dealt with in the thread entitled "Can we have a new forum please?"

I'm going to merge the two threads into one (using the original title).

OK?

does it really matter where it is, it's perfectly clear from the title what it's about. why did you feel the need to interfere? On that basis you'd just have one huge thread about the albion.

I dunno, pah

oh well, it's done. I have to say though it was as worthy of a new thread as the 'My 2000th post' one by a certain supermod.

Problem is, mm, that there are too many new threads for people to cope with. Turn your back for half an hour and you've missed something that has slipped on to page 2.

I've just had a PM from CrabtreeBHA confessing that he couldn't find the original "Can we have a new forum please?" thread (which is where he wanted to post his top message).

That more or less proves the point, I think.

I don't have a problem with the 'fun' threads. We all need a laugh at times.

Sometimes threads that are Albion related get repeated because they do get lost in amongst the fun or because people hear something and are bursting to tell everyone without checking to see if there if a previous thread started.

That's all fine and usual for any msg board

What is unacceptable has already been well discussed although i would like to point out that the thread title and content do not always match so can cause offence (or someone has deviated away from the original meaning either inadvertantly or deliberately)

yes its true I was looking for this thread but Iguess it fell into the abyss of page 2 which I hardly EVER look in (I've learned my lessson)!
But while I'm here Lord B the MM has a point...pointless milestone threads have been discussed before and the vast majority indicated they are crap yet you wrote one...so my original thread could've stayed :) no hard feelings though as I dont get wound up on forums, done that when I was kid!

Well you will do what you want to do anyway, basically because you can, but as far as I see it it was moderating for moderating sake when there are/were more worthy causes for it.

The issue is:-

How can we make NSC work well for everyone?

Wozza's entirely sensible suggestion on page one of this thread - some people need to learn when to shut the f*** up, that's all - doesn't seem to be working.

What you mean is some people need to shut the f*** up when they disagree with you. Sorry, but that's the point now isn't it.

Now I have said it, I'll shut the f*** up and you can get back to more worthy moderating.

No Munster monch that isn't what was meant.

There have been some outrageous things said that shouldn't have been said and caused a lot of offence to a lot of people.

I am not talking about discussion or debate here. Then the people who said it, said it was just a wind up.

You probably haven't read it because it was removed.

What a bunch of f***ing hypocrites.

I would bet good money that most of the people whinging on this thread have contributed to at least one 'pointless' thread in the last week.

People are moaning that there's been an influx of these sort of subjects lately but don't forget the more established ones:

'The Person Above You Thread'
'Thread Full of Beautiful Ladies'
'Thread Full of Useless Facts'
'What Are You Listening To?'
The lastest 'wacky' item on Ebay

In fact two off the worst offenders are bloody mods on this site. What sort of an example does that set?

I find the fact that some people have suddenly 'had enough' off all the off-topics despite contributing to them for months quite honestly laughable.

Regarding yesterday, apologies if I genuinely offended anyone (not people who just felt like they had to say something), but if anyone actually believes that I am racist then they are even more soppy than I first thought. My ex IS Asian and I went out with her for three years. Hardly the actions of a Hitler wannabe.

I could go on at length about this because it is so f***ed up but I won't because A) It'll only be greeted with derision and B) I don't really feel like explaining myself to an internet message board today.

I think the problem some of the people 'in power' have got is that they are quite happy to post their own off-topic stuff, yet when something else goes up that they personally are not interested in then they lock and come out with the old 'not in the board's interest' gobshite. It's bollocks. A phrase beginning 'Too many chiefs' springs to mind.

As such I won't be posting on here for a while. I know most of you won't give a shit, some of you will probably welcome it. I don't care.

NSC is as f***ed as it has been for a long time and I want no part of it.

f*** me:ohmy:

I reckon he's got a point though.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

The reason for expressing opinions is to start a debate. Debates on NSC are the best you'll find on a football message board. Especially the debates where feelings run high.

For example:-

I can think of several message boards where the thread on racism would've been deleted - or opinions suppressed - but NSC isn't like that.

I'm sure everyone is getting bored with this already but picking up on Yorkies comment, I did see some of the offensive posts and as far as I am aware most of these needed to be reported before they were moderated. Was it not a little over zealous to start unilaterally tidying up threads (and at the same time throw in a patronising 'look guys', especially when you are as guilty as anyone in starting meaningless threads) when there are possibly much worthier things that a moderator can do.

My last word, but I'll let you take the last one which you will surely do.

Blimey, back at work and only briefly visiting nsc once in a while now and all hell breaks loose. What happened? Chill everyone, love thy neighbour etc etc etc. Just ignore shit threads and they soon go away.
