Cameron comes of age

:clap2: WE HAVE A WINNER :clap2:

..1st person to betray their utterly stupid blind prejudice.

You've certainly won this time LC, but there's plenty more on this board so don't go getting complacent, eh?

No, I am just refering to the article, and what her daughter thought of her, if you read it you may come to the same conclusion. Personally, she was a hero, she put her life on the line. When people can't be bothered to vote, they should think of Pankhurst.

Nope, I am not being blinkered, I know my political history. Read about what the average tory member thought about women, about blacks and asians in the early C20th. And you note, I am not defending the Labour Party here.

The Leadership of the ILP and Communist Party treated women as equals and of course were internationalist in their viewpoint.

So perhaps instead of being blinkered about my comments, do your research, read actually what I write. We won't agree, that is obvious.

As with LOrd B, I have also worked closely, with Politicians of all Political parties, providing advice, guidance. I remain impartial in my political views and respect them for being elected officials.

I work with businesses, business people also have them own political angle, viewpoints , how they see things, but in my role as a Public official they are all treated with the same respect.

Yes. The point is that unsurprisingly, the Tories are not all the demons and anti-democrats that people like you would have us believe. And your glorious Labour party weren't the trailblazers in giving people equality.

It's actually a damn sight more pertinent than the anti-Tory shite that's been posted on here in the last few days.

They're not 'my glorious party'. I don't have a party. And you accuse others of having prejudices before debate.

Certainly not all politicians of any major party are demons and anti-democrats.

I'm still not sure though whether you're actually saying that the Conservative Party have been 'trailblazers in giving people equality' or whether you're just attacking Labour and its supporters.

If you are saying that by the way, it's laughable.

I'm saying exactly what I said, no more.

The tories are not the demons people would portray of them and Labour was not and is not a trailblazer for equality.

You seem to struggle with this as it's the second time you've asked what my point is. Do you understand yet?

fair enough. Apologies - getting my wires crossed. In my defence, your honour, I've had sod all sleep and am not completely compos mentis.

Personally, I've always supported the idea that if employers can't be trusted to pay someone a fair rate for a job they really ought not be in the business of having employees so am in favour of a minimum wage.

Your apology and defence plea accepted. I'm with you on the minimum wage, we know that some employers would not give a fair wage if they could get awy with it.
How far up Muesli Mountain do you live?

I'm level with The Dover Castle.

Nope. You cannot simply dismiss Emmeline as senile just because her daughter thought so. That's just crazy and lazy.

The average Tory had the same attitude as the average mine worker or cotton worker. It wasn't specific to one party.

As for "do my research", please don't patronise me. Your research seems to consist of finding someone who shares your views and then assuming that that is the authority on the subject. Oh, and telling people to "improve their education", "to do the homework themselves as you already have and have dismissed it" (good one that. Easier than replying) or to "do my research" in my case. Quite a high opinion of yourself there.

I see Brown has royally bottled it after Cameron's superlative speech, Brown hugely underestimated Cameron and Brown has been made to look rather silly and cowardly now, ha ha ha, Cmaeron can wait and Brown will lose whenever he decides to have the bottle to face the public.

Whilst the article was meant to be supporting her, I found it ironic that it included her daughters opionion, I personally found it funny, that a person being promoted on here for going ILP to Conservative, was viewed as going senile by a love one.

TBH her daughter will know her better than most people, though, I bet they didn't love each other by the early 30"s.

I emphasise again, whatever her political beliefs at the end, she was a good bloke as far as I am concerned.

As I mentioned elsewhere.....Brown has sold Cameron a dummy and forced his hand. Cameron foolishly showed his cards and Brown can now take a while to decide how to deal with the main planks of Cameron's election promises (non-dom tax, stamp duty and inheritance tax). Cameron is now stuck with these comments until the next election. Besides, it is starting to look as though the non-dom taxation is a non-runner on legal grounds.

And I'm sure the Mitfords thought each other was senile because of their opposing political views. The article talks of Emmeline's struggle with her socialist beliefs and the socialists that practised them was one that she had for years. It wasn't an epiphany - more a gradual process.

Mind you, she wouldn't be the first hot-headed radical to become a conservative (small c) in later years.

Come on, I make typo's all the time. But the misspelling of education is always a good one to pick up on.

Generally, I have detailed my views on here, My beliefs are well documented on other threads.

I was asked earlier to bring evidence forward the principles of the Tories, but that was for the poster, to go and find good stuff on why their principles are the best for Britain.

I love Politics, I have done loads of reding, admittedly many years a go b4 my family.

But if you had looked at how the Conservatives and liberals looked at the involvement of women, you would recognise, they were not the party for blacks and women....................................in the early 20th century.

Were Labour? Well you may be right, they were definately aimed at the male worker, which I believe was their downfall in the 70's and 80's.

thats typical Labour spin, I don;t see it like that I see it as the typically smug self satisfied Brown assuming it was a one horse race and the gullible British public were in his back pocket already to be toyed with as he pleased and he is set back by the fact actually a lot of people are liking Cameron and what he says so basically he totally bottled it

Let's wait. Remember, the whole nation was loving Brown a couple of weeks ago so the past few days are little to go by.

But I do believe the nation will vote in Brown's Labour Party as it is by far the best and most fair party for most things and most people. Further, whilst I wish this was not the case I do believe that an election is the current government's to loose. As Britain is historically scared of change, an incumbant party has to screw really things up to loose an election. Even with after all the years of Blair and Irag the tories still didnt make much headway. Likewise when it was obvious things were going wrong for the tories in the early 90s it took until 97 for them to get the boot. Brown wont do much wrong between now and the election.
