Aren't you the same person who had us written off after MK Dons and took great pleasure in slagging off anyone who said we had hope still?

Also, I would like to know how many of the people on this thread who have given up on us were actually at the game last night. We matched them for the first 40 minutes and then the sending off changed the game. Even then we were in the game until they scored their fourth and then we fell apart.

You're putting words in my mouth by saying I took great pleasure and I wouldn't use the words "slagging off" either. That's your own twisted viewpoint pal, only you are responsible for that. But yes, I was brave or fool hardy enough to say we were going down (long before MK game actually, I wasn't a last minute state the bleeding obvious type). More importantly, and to my credit, I also maintained that same opinion throughout end March-April and May until I was proved wrong (which was about mid-way through the 2nd half of the Stockport game so I was hardly way off the mark!) unlike many, perhaps even you? Anyway, I was hardly in a minority and, again to my credit, enjoyed a huge slice of humble pie by publically saying I got it wrong (unlike many who change sides more than an Asian Premiership fan with Italian grandparents).

But that was last season, I'm sure you've got things wrong before and we're talking about last night's 7-1 defeat which was an utter embarrassment don't you think, regardless of whether you were there or not? It wasn't 2-1, 3-1, 5-0 or even 6-0. We shipped SEVEN goals, FFS. More than we have for 35 years. So it's right we're talking about it - it's hardly a "sporks @ Falmer" topic is it? We should all move on perhaps, yes. But you're in danger of appearing to defend that astonishing defeat better than our back 4 did last night. Russell's hardly trying to put a positive spin on last night. Suggest fans don't try either, that's all I'm saying here. 'Cause you look a bit of a plum otherwise...... IF you choose to go down that path.

PS there's nothing wrong with saying we're shit now and again, you're amongst friends here e.g. We all love this club, that's why people like me spend so much time communicating with utter strangers like you!

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Any team can have a horror night and get thrashed in a single game. The teams that go down are the ones who lose consistently over the course of a season.

It is August, for crying out loud. I would rather lose a couple now and hit form when it matters than thrash everyone out of sight in the first few weeks and drop like a stone just as the play-offs beckon.

Funny how the most vociferous critics of last night are by and large the fans who weren't actually at the game.

True, any team can be thrashed. But we haven't received one on that scale for 35 years, so what's your point?! That fans shouldn't pass comment, because we simply lost a game? Yes, it's only August, but we lost 7-1 so why are you surprised people are reacting like they have? Having witnessed the Walsall and Brentford games, I left knowing we were far from a decent side and this result confirmed my opinion in dramatic fashion. But if you're accusing me of being a "Vociferous critic" because I think 7-1's a really poor performance, then let me tell you something for free: it's you that's in the minority! And please don't trot that old argument out about "not being there" for a 7-1 defeat. Are you implying we were unlucky somehow? If so, you're either pissed or a poor wind-up merchant. Certainly wasn't the press or team manager's view. But they could be wrong and you could be right. But then you might have a 20ft cock too....

Yes, but those of us who are deemed to be miserable in the wake of the worst result for 35 years (did you lot miss something, we lost 7-1 FFS!) should be allowed more than a jocking minute after the final whistle to vent our frustration without being labelled "harbringers of doom etc!" We're not unreasonable in that respect. From my grey-lined glasses, that at least change colour rather than stay mono-pink , there's a degree of naivety and culture of acceptance re: our performance amongst many supporters. My point was simply that on the back of such an infamous result, it's not the brightest/wisest thing to do starting such a thread as this because it implies (intended or otherwise) that it's ok to lose 7-1.
Now f*** off and let me be grumpy with my team for another 24hrs. We'll all be back supporting the team on Saturday and manager (albeit via the radio for me as I'm watching U2); but 7-1 defeats are not to be brushed off like any other defeat. Serious questions need to be asked, and if you can't ask them after a 7-1 defeat, when can you?

Chin up, fella. The future is mono-pink. But you'll always be a grumpy old fart ;)

Funnily enough, when I turned the radio on at 3-1 down, we were up on the stats, more possession, more shots on target - and the best goal of the game so far. We were hit on the break, and the defence capitulated to gift them their goals. But Huddersfield are a very good side, you could see that last season (I was there, remember?) and we were unlucky not to get a point against Walsall.

Yes, we would be bottom of the table if Southampton hadn't had points deducted. Yes we got thumped last night. But let's see how we react to this defeat, let's pull together and stop being such whingeing f***ing bastards :)

We got stuffed. ONLY 24hrs ago. People are right to be angry, sad, embarrassed and will express this in different ways. Some call for the managers head. Others might pretend it didn't happen. Both are perhaps extreme. But I don't begrudge anyone being a "whinging f***ing bastard" for a day or two after THAT result. It was shambolic. History has recorded it so, not the number of times we might have scored if it hadn't been for those 11 players that Huddersfield fielded. Anyway, lets hope the boys respond with a win on Sat.
