Calde, I have his name on the back of my shirt so he MUST PLAY.

Calde, for me, is one of those players who you desperately want to be able to keep up with the first team as we progress and get better players. Obviously I want what's best for the team, but I ADORE him and the thought of him playing for any other side is unbearable. I really hope he stays in our squad (on merit) until he decides to hang his boots up, only to become a member of staff at the club.

Calderon was poor prior to his op and not great when he returned after it. Now he is fully fit and in form he is the right choice at right back.

Yup. Would be genuinely unhappy seeing him wear another teams' colours.

I like Calderon, I do. He's one of the best full backs we've had in years. Unfortunately he's with us at the same time we have Reyes. It is without question in my mind that Reyes is a better player than Calderon in every respect.

Thats how I feel too - I can see him in later years as the genial Father Christmas at the kids Christmas parties, that cheeky sparkle still in his eye (not that I'm suggesting that's the only job he should have )

Calderon has been fantastic since Reyes got sent off against Blackpool. Its the same with Mattock and Painter. At this moment in time you can't drop either of them, because they've been superb in our unbeaten home record this year.

Calderon for me. If you watch the understanding between him and Buckley, it is far more advanced than Reyes. Reyes is a good player, but hasn't done a lot since returning on loan. So that shows how well Calde has done since getting his place back.

Calde but I can't see the poll, let alone vote. Does anyone know if this is possible on Tapatalk?
I don't know but don't worry, Calde's winning by a landslide.
Jara's not been great in his second loan spell, and Calderon is playing really well at the moment. No brainer.

Calderon definitely adds extra attacking flair and if we have the courage to start Kaz and Vicente with CMS/Barnes as v Derby we may get the win Gus wants, otherwise a draw again.

Reyes may well be the better player, however, Calderon is PLAYING better. Calderon to keep the shirt until such time as he deserves to lose it and that time is not now simply because Reyes is available again.

I think that actually at least 50% of the people on here would agree that, on paper, Reyes has all the attributes to be a better player.

However, ON CURRENT FORM, Calde deservedly has the shirt.

What message would it send out from Gus if Calde was dropped for Gonzo now? That some players are undroppable?

What does it say to Calde? "Doesn't matter that you've just busted a gut to prove you are worth first team contention, I'm still gonna go back with the other chap, even if he got himself sent off needlessly."

That's a pretty arrogant statement isn't it? That 85% of voters are wrong, because they don't agree with you?

What's more likely, is that unlike you, those people have actually READ the question correctly.

Had it been "who is the better player" which is the question you've chosen to answer, then the vote would be far closer. However, the question was actually "who should be starting at the moment". The answer to that is without question, Calderon.

Reyes was dismissed in his lest game, as a direct result of his own poor touch, and over his recent appearances, has been very wasteful with the ball. If there's one thing Gus values above ALL else, it is taking care of the ball.

For me, thats the key point. Reyes has appreared "undroppable" despite some pretty ropes form simply because he SHOULD be better than Calderon. Form wise, we are better with Calderon as he is solid devensively and adds an extra dimension attack-wise. Calderon has been excellent in the last 3 games, more so when compared with Reyes contributions (goals excluded).

Its a fairly overwhelming response in Calde's favour though at this stage!! Thought it could be much closer!

Yes it was, but after 34 replies all saying exactly the same thing, I thought I'd throw the cat amongst the pigeons. No need to stress ;)

Astute observers of NSC know where my loyalties lay.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Reyes isn't good enough defensively to warrant nullifying Buckley.
Calde & WB are too good going forward.

The centre halves play wider and Bridcutt drops into right back when Calde is in the other half, so his attacking is well planned by Gus.

Reyes has been a disappointment. His passing has been poor at times and he's had some truly terrible shots (from free-kicks and open play) when he should have done better. He tends to overhit balls and seems to get over-excited when in promising positions.

Calderon, altho suspect defensively at times, is excellent in the overlapping full-back role - and he scores goals! (which at this stage of the season is invaluable - especially as our forwards are hardly prolific).

So Calde for me all the way.

Pretty much sums it up for me
