i seem to remember the rivalry being mainly school based, Downlands, Oakmeeds, Warden Park and Oathall.
although you didn't normally advertise the fact you were from H.H if out in Bugs Hole.

I ran The Cricketers for a couple pof years and didnt rate Jupps fish and chips very highly, much preferred Tim Leys. One of the best I have visited is Macaris in Worthing next door to their cafe.

I forgot about Jupps, my parents used to drive there from Hurstpierpoint to get fish n' chips back when I was a nipper, marvelous tuck.

Burgess Hill is fine, I was brought up in Hurst so it was handy for shopping and pubs if I didn't want to go in to Brighton. You get a few chavvy locals but no more so than any other town.

I suggest making a trip to THE JUNCTION  :D

I am getting a lift to Northampton from McDonalds in BH at half three - where would be a good place to have a pint between there and the station?

Been closed for ages I'm sure. At least it looks like it has.

I believe they had a mysteriously unexplained fire there a few months back.

Railway pub is right opposite the station. It's alright, and you can pop into Uncle Sams or the Four (In)Continents for a spot of lunch if McDonalds doesn't appeal

I was Downlands and we hated Oakmeeds - I didn't like going into BH after school still wearing my Downlands uniform.

I don't think the two HH schools provoked the same sort of ire really. Well not with us anyway.

If you can manage a walk down junction road into 'Worlds end' ..the watermill is worth a visit. One of the very few pubs to serve real ale and is kept well too. Also has guests beers too

Tim ley for chinese and fish N chips for me....Asian rose for the curry.

Enjoy

Pah Oakmeeds nothinged (not even sure that is a word) Downlands, it was all about Warden Park and some nastyness with St Pauls
