Murray was forced out and didn’t want to leave, he’s said this multiple times. It’s an entirely different story. Ben White, Bissouma and the majority of ex players and managers who have left the club don’t get pelters. They left the right way, not the same as Cucurella, Potter, Bruno et al getting a sniff of more money and running off mid-contract to a project that’s doomed to fail.

He got a great offer to take a career step up, which at the very least on a salary level would have been very tempting. He had no guarantees of a role under the new boss. He left, did the whole social media love in with the club, wished everyone well and thanked the club for everything.

Other than not leaving, what should he have done differently to get Brian Fantana on side?

You are correct. I had written a longer comment about that and the importance of the issue that caused the grudge but then it became very complicated so I left the short version. In perspective some fans said Murray shouldn't be allowed back, going to Palace was worst thing in the world. If he hadn't come back we would not have got promoted...

Managers have come back, albeit not successfully.

Which proves my Bruno point even further. Micky Adams left us to be the assistant at Leicester and was welcomed back. He literally took the first opportunity that gave him more money and a bigger club (not that I blame him for doing so, by the way) and was welcomed back with open arms.

So why are people so sensitive about Bruno doing the same thing?

Time is a great healer. Although slightly tainted, it would be great to see Bruno back.

Even leaving aside whether he comes back to Brighton or not, how the hell is Bruno going to stand out in the crowd at Chelsea? There are 4 Assistant Coaches there, and Bruno is not even in the top 2 (Reid and Hamberg, plus Anthony Barry).

Compare this to the Albion under RDZ, who have 1 Assistant Coach. Having a stack of young, Spanish speaking players would surely have guaranteed Bruno an important role?

When you look at the sheer number of people Potter has around him you wonder whether the number of different voices may be part of the problem.

Is there a sufficient spirit of reconciliation for Bruno to be welcomed back? Is there a job for him to do at the Albion? Would RDZ approve? What has Bruno to offer this time around?

Animosity towards a genuinely contrite Bruno is narrow minded and petty; but as I say any positive move in this direction would need to be subject to close scrutiny....
