I assume that people who are so vehement about animals dying for people's fun work up a similar head of steam about horse racing, for which animals are bred solely for purpose and then despatched without a second's thought as soon as they're no longer financially sustainable? I know, killing them prematurely isn't the main gist of the activity but that's certainly often the net effect of it if the creatures are unlucky ever to get injured.

I'm not a huge fan of any sport like that involving animals. Not exactly going to spend my life protesting against it, but you won't find me at a either a horse race or a night at the dogs.

Bit harsh, no one imo DESERVES to die

He did. The Bull had a few swords in his neck and was mightly pissed off, rightly so, his death was poetic justice imo.

Anyone who thinks that a crowd go to a bullfight because they enjoy the killing understands NOTHING about bullfighting.

No its about the glory of the matador, the beauty as depicted by Édouard Manet, the traditional Corrida with its three Toreros waving to the adoring crowds.

Its bollox. Its cruel, cowardly and it should be banned.

f*** it anyway I`m off fishing in a minute.

And no animal deserves to be taunted and then murdered in the name of entertainment.

I don't rejoice in anyones death, but equally I don't have an ounce of sympathy for that bullfighter I'm afraid.

I have opted for Pamplona next year. I have been charged with orgainsing a stag do, as best man, and it seems to be the popular destination.

I went to a Bullfight in South America. Interesting experience. I went on my own as the four people I was travelling with, at that time, were all vegetarians.

This is the sort of treatement I'd hope they all got. The 2nd Matador with his poncy foot moves and silly costume then stabbing 2 huge swords into either side of the Bull. Well take that. Alas there are 999 bulls killed to 1 Matador I would imagine.

Sorry but even if the bull has the highest of lives before being thrown into the ring, bullfighting is barbaric. Throwing successive spears at a bulls neck to see how long he can stay alive whilst making him chase around a ring is barbaric. Poor animal.

I'd prefer to eat humanely raised beef, the death is fast and the animal isn't led to believe its a deity and then slowly bled to death.

Totally right. All these people trying to justify it by the bogus argument of eating Burgers. Absolute bullshit so to speak. Bullfighting is indefensible.

A load of drunken stags against raging bulls? No chance! I wouldn't try to get travel insurance for a start.
You're better off getting pissed around Prague mate.

I'm not trying to defend bullfighting. I'm just saying its completely hypocritical to condemn bullfighting if you eat meat. Animals produced for consumption still suffer a pretty miserable existance before they are slaughtered, but because this isn't seen publically, we conveniently ignore that fact, whilst at the same time berate bullfighting as being cruel.

I don't see the comparison myself.

We eat beef raised wandering free, and killed in fractions of seconds (well I try to make sure they have been as much as possible). We don't bleed them to death whilst they are taunted around a ring.

It IS a recipe for disaster. Personally, I quite fancy La Tomatina in Bunyol. A large tomato fight with all night parties. Prague is tempting, but wanted to do something a bit different than just boozing.

You are defending it though. To compare the Bullfight where it is terrified , panic sticken, taunted infront of 10000 people, stabbed with long knives weakening it, knives placed strategically to limit its movements to make it easier and less dangerous for the Matador, then to run out of energy with blood pouring from open wounds before the Matador makes the final kill and then has the ears cut off for a momento of the kill is not the same as an animal killed instantaneously with a gun to the head imo.
