Micky Adams second time round, closely followed by Hinshelwood.

The reason I have voted for Adams is because we were in a lower division and expectation was so much higher.

Wood, Lloyd & Case.

F*ck me, people have got short memories. Case was clueless - people bang on about Adams this time round, but at least we got a few wins...

Wood was a victim of circumstances and probably would have done better when Withdean had got sorted.

Lloyd was and still is a wanker.

Lloyd was and still is a wanker.

Lloyd acheived miracles, with his hands effectively tied behind his back, getting us to within 90 minutes of a return to division one...only one manager ever managed to achieve that, no one other than Bazza has even come close.

My votes went to Mickey Pt2, Tinselhead and Case.

Got to be Lloyd for the overall way he ran the team down , his contempt of the fans. The team he took over to the team he left was a total mis match. For these and many other reasons, Barry Lloyd is the worst manager

Mike Baileys team playing style was dire to watch. Other than the managers who failed with results, Wood, Hinshelwood and Adams Mk2. :tumble:

There are some strange choices here: Bailey, who took us to our highest ever position; Lloyd, who nearly got us into the top division again, Horton, who arrested a slide and took us to the brink of the play-offs and McGhee who got us promoted and kept us up with no cash to play with - all would surely figure in the best manager since 1980 poll.

I voted Hinshelwood as the side was totally clueless under him - but Mullery second time around ran him close.

Mullery for me. He completely undid the good work done by Cattlin and got us relegated. Promising young manager surprisingly replaced by returning prodigal son who gets sacked before we get relegated - a carbon copy of this season.

How could anyone vote for Lloyd?

He is still with the club so must be a great if not one of the best manager's ever (lol)

When Lloyd was appointed Brighton manager in January 1987, the club were heading for relegation from the Second Division, less than four years after appearing in an FA Cup final. He was unable to keep them up, but guided them to promotion at the first attempt in May 1988 when the finished runners-up in the Third Division. Two tricky seasons followed, during which time Brighton re-established themselves in the Second Division and stayed clear of relegation. They reached the Second Division playoff final in 1991, but lost 3-1 to Notts County and were soon faced with the double threat of relegation and a financial crisis. With debts mounting high, they finished second from bottom in the Second Division in 1992 and began the following season in the new Division Two following the creation of the Premier League. Lloyd guided Brighton to a stable ninth place finish in 1993, but he resigned the following December to make way for Liam Brady.

As for the crock of shit that is Adams, second time around..............

Exactly, 87/88 remains my favourite season as an Albion fan...some decent away days...who can forget the windy cup game on the cricket pitch at Northampton...a stunning goal by Nelson at Brentford...a fourth round game at home to Arsenal, in front of over 27k fans, where they only led for something like 12 minutes (they scored just before the half time whistle, we did at the beginning of the second half, they got the winner just 10 minutes from the end)...then the game at home on the last day against Bristol Rovers...victory, promotion and a pitch invasion...oh yeah, the manager for all that lot...Barry bloody Lloyd!!!
