Are people referring to the Barry Lloyd who took us up in his first full season and took us to 90 minutes away from the Premiership, signed the likes of Garry Nelson, Mike Small, John Byrne? We were royally f***ed financially and he still managed to balance the books as best he could by selling players?

He may be a bit of a misery, but to call him the WORST is simply ridiculous.

I can't believe that, given some of the shite on that list, someone has actually voted for Steve Coppell, not to mention someone voting for Micky Adams Part I.

I went on the tour to Portugal after the team had just won promotion and over heard a conversation that Barry LLoyd was having. He said that he thaught the supporters felt the following season was going to be a breeze. Lloyd was not a good communicater but over all he had a good eye for a decent player. He worked wonders with the budjet he was given but due to circumstances beyond his control players had to leave to ballance the books. Ask John Byrne how hard Lloyd faught to keep him at the club.
The worst manager since 1980 for me.. Jeff Wood, followed by Jimmy Case then Liam Brady. The best..Steve Coppell

At times we played some good football under Hinshelwood and he was without Zamora for much of his time, not ideal when our tin pot outfit was playing in the Championship for the 1st time. No way was he our worst manager, that would go to Case who didn't have a f***ing clue and Adams this time around for dismantling a team of 100% triers for a bunch of journeymen mercenaries and ruining what could have been a great season by just being 100% shit and expecting to con us with his lack lustre out of touch after match comments, proving him well past his sell by date.

Got to be Lloyd for the overall way he ran the team down , his contempt of the fans. The team he took over to the team he left was a total mis match. For these and many other reasons, Barry Lloyd is the worst manager

Spot on. The bloke is a crook as well.

Mullery for me. He completely undid the good work done by Cattlin and got us relegated. Promising young manager surprisingly replaced by returning prodigal son who gets sacked before we get relegated - a carbon copy of this season.

spot on - cattlin had the makings of a very good manager - he rocked !

I think that too many people only remember Lloyd for the fact that he was rather grumpy and his famous statement " I don't give a monkey's". Unlike certain managers who always saught the limelight and wanted to take all the credit during the good times and never take responsibility for the bad times, Lloyd seemed some what embarrassed to receive praise. Remember the scenes at The Goldstone after the players had won promotion in 1988, supporters on the pitch calling for Lloyd to come up to the directors box, it was like trying to get blood out of a stone. When he was interviewed after the win at Millwall in the play offs the poor guy looked terrified. Given the finance and support I think Lloyd would have achieved what others did not Not the best manager this club has had but not the worst

Case came in at a very bad time but to be fair as a Manager he was clueless. shame but he will always be a legend as a player here.

Too early to include Micky Adams and Russell Slade in this list below but....

Interesting to note that out of those that have managed the Albion since 1980, Mike Bailey, Liam Brady, Jimmy Case, Chris Cattlin, Steve Gritt, Martin Hinselwood, Barry Lloyd, Alan Mullery (86-87), Dean Wilkins and Jeff Wood never went on to become full-time managers of any other league sides.

Hinshelwood by a mile. I nearly voted Wood but to be fair, look with the shite he had to work with. Coppell came after Tinselhead and showed him how it's done, we could have stayed in that division quite comfortably.

Conveniently forgetting that Coppell had us out of the relegation zone with about 5 games to go, but we slipped back in there by being shit again. To suggest we could have avoided relegation comfortably is optimistic in the extreme. Hinshlewood had quite a few key players out injured too. Hinshelwood was an unfairly maligned manager imo, not suggesting he was great but the worst? No way
