I think you said you have an interest in Dutch football? So.....locadia - did we sign someone who was already a dud, and the signs were there? Or was he was a decent player when we got him, and , for whatever reason, he became shit?

He was considered extremely talented in his teens and made two good seasons in PSV before he stopped developing and even stagnated over the next couple of years.

In the last few months before Brighton bought him, he had a couple of good games and whoever that was in charge of the wallet back then probably thought it was worth taking a chance to buy him, hoping that he would finally progress from just being talented to actually being good.

But like a lot of Dutch talents from his generation, it didnt happen. Locadia, Castaignos and some others probably thought that they would magically turn into the new Kluivert, van Nistelrooy, Hasselbaink, Makaay, Van Hooijdonk etc. and didnt grasp how much effort it takes to reach that level.

Thanks.
We got him as a young, Dutch international forward. You can imagine the expectation. He was given more opportunities here than he might have been, despite arriving injured and looking like a dud from the off ( bar two games when he did ok). He also got a lot of love and patience from the Albion fans.
For me, he’s top three most disappointing Albion transfers ever.
And going by your post, he can’t even deliver in America.
Despite this there’s still a tiny part of my mind that thinks he might come good! That’s football fans for you.

Ostigaard scored for Coventry yesterday, a fine header from a set piece. Our defenders would do well to watch it and learn!

Rochdale making the classic Brighton error of sticking the left footed centre back at left back tonight vs Wigan, won 5-0 but fans not too impressed with his performance.

Doesn't seem to have been a great success - although they won 5-0 so it can't have been that bad! Previously Roberts has done very well and had fabulous reviews on there, including several MOTMs.

Agreed, this loan has worked really well for him. Can see why they tried him at left back to be fair with the shorter-than-normal centre back height and passing ability. Wouldn't be surprised if they try him in midfield at some point either. Good experience.

Why haven't we tried him at left back?

Especially as they were playing our very own former left back Jim McNulty (glad he's been able to carry on playing) at centre back?

Goals for Longman & Richards today, a screamer for Richards aswell. Roberts played out of position for Rochdale again at left back, improved following his move into midfield in the second half...seems to be following in the Ben White path very well.
