I will BE INVADING the pitch on SATURDAY and setting my SEASON ticket on FIRE to MAKE it known to Bloom that WE won't TOLERATE another potless CHAIRMAN

You'll be hard pressed to burn a piece of plastic without it just melting. If I were you I'd go on with a giant pair of scissors and cut it up credit card style.

Never quite understand that justification.

Are you serious? What would you do in their position. Offered a wage that if necessary you could retire on for a job when the the next tackle could put you out of work. And apart from the odd (and in some cases, very odd) pundits, what work will they get that pays a similar salary. So again, what would you do in their shoes (boots)?

Really ?

When one contract with a Premiership club can make you an overnight millionaire, its a fact of life that any player would jump at the chance. Elliott Bennett probably quadrupled his wages and got a big old slab of a signing on fee when he moved, it stands to reason that if a Prem club comes in for you, you've hit the jackpot.

Yes, but the premise behind it. There is nothing stopping a player working after they have finished playing. A Prime Ministers career is exceedingly short (generally), but that does not mean one should be paid a kings ransom.

Why should fans have to spend more and more each year to give some 30 something an early retirement bonus?

Dick Knight wouldn't have a clue about players wages now, he's not even on the board of directors any more.

Dick Knight is life president. Im sure he knows a good bit! Glenn Murray, in reaction to another poster, would OBVIOUSLY have known whether CMS was coming. For god sake people we are not a poor club anymore. Bloom can afford to spend 20k per week on a player if he wants to. Not only have I got word from two peole but others are claiming the same. Can people just open there eyes. He's on 20 bloody grand a week. END OF.

Is this a dig at the club or is he just feeling sorry for himself?

Do we really pay that poorly? Or are we just a well run club which doesnt want to go down the admin route up against Prem teams gambling on the Prem/using Prem parachute payments?

BBC Sport - Brighton wage structure must change - Gus Poyet

That guy needs to stop whining like a bitch. Every utterance he makes, he appears more and more of an idiot. Maybe he's not really cut out for football management. Seems about as flakey as Roy Keane.

He's probably disappointed with the Southampton result on one level. IMHO he deliberately put out a wee bit of an overly weakened team (and blah blah to the injuries/suspensions) so he could turn round when we got hammered and put his case for an improved wage structure. Shame it bit him so badly in the bum really :lolol:

You get worse, really you do. Players in the same team don't know what their team mates earn let alone a player who hadn't even signed for us at the time. It wasn't clear to anyone until the day he signed that CMS was coming here as everyone thought he was going to Leicester. I also believe Barry Fry when he said that CMS turned down more money to play for Gus. Barry Fry's daughter lives with CMS if you didn't know.
The directors don't have much to do with Knight now he's stepped as chairman so don't try and kid us with that one.

If you believe that then you're stranger than I thought you were. I think I might just have been hooked though.

Sorry, but I've been pretty consistent throughout his reign. Just don't like the fella and am progressively unimpressed by his every public utterance. Which will make the comedown far easier for me than for most when the inevitable 'hero to zero' stuff appears. As it surely will.

See the Peston thread for my analysis of negative posters.

I always assumed our wage structure had an upper limit of 10k. With young players like JFC probably on 1-2 K.

Thought it was in the papers we offered Muzza 8K but Palace and Millwall offered 12k over a longer period.

The modern game is affected by agents who want players to move. Noones agent must be all over clubs with higher budgets for example.

Hopefully will improve as we grow in size.

Everyone buy more pies for the sake of our playing budget.

It's a shame that Brighton can't compete with clubs such as Palace, Cardiff, Ipswich etc when it comes wages and i can't understand why this should be. Palace nearly went out of business and were still able to offer Murray what he wanted. The club need to get rid of certain players and bring on the youth in order to free the current wage bill. This may mean that promotion to the premier is slowed up for a few seasons but in the long run will be of benefit. An increased capacity should generate more funds but of course it will need to be paid for.

I take it as a message to players/agents and clubs we might be trying to get loans from: we aren't paying stupid wages so don't ask!

I personally would rather we kept within our means than gambled and nearly went under. Also I thought it wasn't that we couldn't but wouldn't (they didn't think he was worth it)

I have no idea what the wage structure is, but is it more or less than palace who are in a semi final and above us in the league. Palace we must remember get by with only 11,000/12,000 through the gate. Gus won the league last year with a smaller budget than Saints. He did it on playing great passing football. Get the players passing and moving themselves into space and chasing the ball down when we dont have it. Then look at the budget but as I say, if its bigger than palace's (which on our crowds it must be) then Gus has to understand that we expect to be doing better than them.

How many YEARS has Poyet now been with us? Every. single. f***ing. window. Poyet says something along the lines of 'We don't have a bottomless pit of cash,' and this board will go 'oh hes just bluffing obviously we are loaded' and then we sign no one, it is so f***ing tedious, just accept it.

Anyway, what the club needs to do is get our better players to sign extensions, Bridcutt IMO should be locked into another 3 years before the end of the window, obviously at a competitive wage, likewise Greer, Noone, JFC e.t.c. who I imagine are all on considerably less than say CMS who IS on 20k, I'm not saying give them 20k but give them a quality championship wage because they are quality championship players and we dont want their heads turned by our rivals paying more. And perhaps bloom, if you weren't paying the wages of so much dross, (Harley, Ankergren, Dicker, Barnes e.t.c.) then perhaps you'd have more money available now to bring in players?

"Doing better" than Crystal Palace is not, nor will it ever be, the most important thing in the world. Who cares about Palace, it's not about them.

Man, this is stupid. Does anyone really know how much money our players are making compared to the average for the league or a playoff contender or whatever we want to become in the next few seasons? Gus might, but the man on the street doesn't.

Going public on the issue was pointless. Talk about it with the board and players, fine, but don't bother us with it because we don't have a clue. All it's going to do is generate blind speculation.
