Starting a revolution from my bed
Indeed. Found some old photos the other day which I took during our first home game after promotion to the old First Division and the place looks stuffed to the gunnells.

It's very hard to explain to younger generations exactly what those halcyon days of the late 70s/early 80s were like in terms of atmosphere. I'd sing meself hoarse - and it was always a bit of a thrill if you started off a chant the whole North Stand then took up. I can feel the hairs on the back of me neck starting to tingle ... :afro:

You dont know how jealous I am :nono:

That i have no clue why it's there? Possibly as it closest to the away fans?

The singing section certainly isn't there for that reason. The singing section has been there a lot longer than the away fans have been up that end of the ground. When the singing section first came along (2nd season at Withdean?) the away fans were still up the other end of the ground in what is now the family stand.

Used to get home from games and my voice would be gone. We really did sing a lot more and a great deal more shouting.

Gotta hope that the new stadium helps with the atmos, because despite 8 years of going to watch BHA on and off, my son just doesn't really understand how good it can be. Oddly, he enjoyed Torquay away last year mainly because we were standing, we were signing and (despite what you think of the pros and cons) there was a lot of banter with the stewards and the home fans.
