One thing I have to say is we don't seem to have as many chants for our players these days. I mean even Nathan Jones used to have his own chant!!

Aside from Kuipers, Mayo and Hart we don't really have any for the rest of the squad do we!!

The greatest ever atmostphere at a Brighton home game was our 2-0 victory over Palace in 76 I think before 33 thousand fans..... 2-0 (Sammy Morgan )

Nothing will ever get close to that.
All the old uns on here will be agreeing with me and all the youngsters will wonder what a real atmostphere is like.
I feel quite blessed that I saw that night.

and that was my 1st ever Albion game. I was in awe of the atmosphere and noise generated, been mostly downhill since then

Remember when people used to talk about the Goldstone Roar? It wasn't a pisstake either

Some great posts from questions, Jamon Jamon, Superphil, wehatepalace, we're the stripes, Icy gull and others. I actually feel sorry for steward 433; I hope I never turn into such a sad little jobsworth.

To be honest we didn't try our luck at Withdean last season. We were partly responsible for the balloons at Orient, the streamers at Southend, and vocally at Walsall we were excellent.

Can't honestly say we made much of an impact, but this season we plan to make our presence felt a lot more with bigger and better displays.

Getting more people involved is the first aim, strength in numbers etc.

Because sitting down doesn't create the anywhere near the same atmosphere ! It just doesn't ! You can dress it up anyway you want but sitting down is SHIT ! My point proven at virtually EVERY away game where we stand without being told to sit down and especially at the few grounds where there is still terracing !
And you being a fan before a hitler (Sorry i mean Steward ;) ) must agree ?
Or are you really a prawn sarnie man :D

For your info and all others there was a better atmosphere today than ANY game last season and 90% of the time all the fans in H & J were sitting

See it can be done :dunce::jester:

Oh yeah, I meant to say, you never see a choir sitting down, or most opera singers, or a rock singer, or a rapper, when they are singing. It's a fact, they need to stand to fully exercise their diaphragms and get the most out of their voices. It can be no coincidence that since all seater stadiums were introduced that the vocal noise factor has gone down. Whenever there is a great atmosphere away, it is because those singing are standing up. Even if you go to watch Ingerland at Wembley, the place is like a library, until a few stand up and start singing, then the whole area around them gets up and joins in.

Just saying, like.

Trust me you don't sound like it when you stand either :lolol:

I was wondering about this today, Why isn't the singing block situated closer towards the middle of the South stand, they are probably too far away (especially from Block A etc, and the noise doesn't carry well, which makes the atmosphere seem dead.

Also i think alot of it is due to lasyness which has crept in, and they use the excuse of lack of atmosphere rather than join in and try to create one.

There have been games in the past were there has been a great atmosphere, but yet some fans still say it's impossible to generate one at Withdean, and therefore never try, prefering to moan, or blame the team on the pitch.

That i have no clue why it's there? Possibly as it closest to the away fans?

Yep was a different crowd today smaller but way more vocal and interested

Always easier to blame someone than correct the problem
