I THINK that Albion U-21s will be away to either Man Utd U-21s, Newcastle United U-21s or Braintree Town in the quarter-finals (as we can't be drawn against the winners of our own group - Aldershot Town).Well, this is a bit of a turn-up for the books....
In the final match of Group A of the National League Cup, Southampton U-21s are leading 3-0 at Maidenhead United at half-time. If that scoreline holds (or if Saints increase their lead) then it sends Albion through to the knockout stage in the most unlikely of scenarios.
So the group winners are seeded? Shame, as I’d of gone to Sutton.I THINK that Albion U-21s will be away to either Man Utd U-21s, Newcastle United U-21s or Braintree Town in the quarter-finals (as we can't be drawn against the winners of our own group - Aldershot Town).
I presume that the draw will happen quickly, as the quarter-finals were originally scheduled to be played last week.
Damn! Just one single solitary PL match stopping this one being screened tonight - and it's us that's playing it! (Not that we had much choice about the PL fixture, but the PL2 one?)2nd-year scholar Aidan West makes his Premier League 2 debut tonight against Norwich:-

Thanks for he update.Finished 1-1, Bashir with the goal.
Form has dropped off a bit, but perhaps not unexpected with so many of the older lads leaving in January.
I’m pretty sure Layton is a local boy but his surname is of Arabic descent, which might explain itRandom transfer today....
Layth Gulzar from the U18's has signed for Al Jazira in the UAE Pro League.
Bit of an odd move to make at his age (18), I wonder if BHAFC received a fee for the transfer? Over to @AZ Gull to investigate...
I believe he represents Pakistan at youth level, though that might be Bashir.I’m pretty sure Layton is a local boy but his surname is of Arabic descent, which might explain it
Certainly a bit of a strange one. He seemed to be fairly highly rated; the club offered him a scholarship two years early during his U-14 season, he was called up to an England U-15 training camp in December 2020 and he was selected as the Albion representative for the Guardian's "Next Generation" article in October 2023.Random transfer today....

I think he is indeed eligible to play for Pakistan (based upon a number of Pakistani twitter accounts posting about him) but as far as I am aware he has never been called up for any of their youth sides.I believe he represents Pakistan at youth level, though that might be Bashir.
Although speculating isn't really helpful, it could be something as simple as his family decided to make a move to UAE for work and he went with them. Good luck to the lad.
