I think Walton had a year left on his contract when he joined Ipswich on loan (we exercised anoption on him according to the Premier League retained list published in summer of 2021).

They then turned his loan deal into a permanent one in January 2022. Given they were in League One at the time I doubt we got a huge up front fee, but could well have made a bit extra thanks to their rise to the PL.

At the time, the independent Ipswich forum twtd.co.uk reported "We understand that while a fee has been paid by the Blues, it is a very minimal one."

Somebody else on that forum seemed to think the figure was 150k.

I've never seen a figure of £1m mentioned.
