I've just come back home after a fruitless 40 minutes sat on the 6.01. The conductor told us that it was a broken rail in Clayton Tunnel so presumably the next story will be aliens landed in Burgess Hill.

From what info I have....

NO northbound trains currently operating between Preston Park and Haywards Heath. This is due to signalling problems in the Hassocks area.

I also heard a rumour that there is a broken down train somewhere in the area as well.

Some southbound services are operating, but with severe delays.

They have run 1 or 2 trains up the down line in the last 30 minutes.

Some coastway services are now starting to be affected due to misplaced rolling stock, and lack of available train crew.

This is now confirmed as a broken rail in Clayton Tunnel.

hmm, balls - have just had a phone call suggesting it's chaos at Haywards Heath at the moment, and about 200 people are about to attempt to get on a bus:D

Live update: I am now sat on what was supposed to be the 0747 Victoria service but am just going past Withdean! Not bad considering I was at the station for the 0647.

I didn't even get to Shreham station this morning before I found out the London trains weren't running, so turned around and came home again.

Incidentally VH - do rails break more easily when the weather is colder, out of curiosity ? It just seems that the first morning we have a bit of frost and there's chaos. Although, as a seasoned commuter, this month or so always seems to be the worst for travelling.

That'll explain how I got the 7:47 to Hove at 8:10 today then.

I think I ended up on the 7:16 from Seaford to London Victoria today that was changed to become the 7:33 to Brighton.

All good clean fun!

I got to BH at 7am to find the next few Victoria trains cancelled, but a Thameslink arrived after 5 mins and was virtually empty, got off at London Bridge and got the Jubillee line to Bond St, sorted

I've finally made it into work after 2 and a half hours from Hassocks to Clapham.
Arrived at Hassocks at 7.45 and eventually a packed thameslink came on the wrong side at about 8.30 and took an age to get up to Gatwick Airport where I managed to catch a Victoria train.
Ruins the rest of the day when that kind of thing happens......I think a Starbucks visit may have to be made

Got the 8.45 from brighton. Currently (10.20) sitting outside gatwick, where we have been for last 20 mins, as a virgin train is on our platform waiting for crew. As if branson didn't have enough to answer for already...
