For a novice who's never done this before, how does the whole charity fundraising thing work? You choose one and do it off your own back?
Why not run for REMF?

There is information about how to do that here:-

Brighton Marathon - Sunday 10 April 2011 - Run for REMF - North Stand Chat

At this stage, all you need to do is contact REMF at marathon@remf.org.uk and let us know that you are interested in running for REMF. We'll then get back in touch with more details.

I'm in the same boat, my plan is to raise as much money as possible off my own back and via whatever means, then simply make the relevant donation(s) once I've done the race.

I left it to the friday before and still raised 500 quid for cancer research. set up a justgiving page, and job done.

They've probably gone, there was only a limited amount of them within the 10,000 general entries.

I've never ran more than a school cross country, and I even resorted to walking in that.

Might sign up, walk it, and then insist it was ran.

Me too  Signed up yesterday in a moment of weakness at work, can't quite believe what i've let myself in for. Furthest I've run before is about eight miles, dear GOD.

Going to do it for Help For Heroes. I have no idea what a reasonable time would be, frankly I will be grateful just to get to the finish line and still have a pulse :lolol:

Good to see a fair number of NSCers doing it for various causes.
