if it makes the first timers feel any better, I didn't train much and finished in 4:45. Various friends finished and hardly trained. Some still drunk and smoked up to the night before, and probably during knowing them. They finished in 6 hours.

Would recommend training though.

Websites like Runner's world have training plans and are brilliant for advice.

Me too  Signed up yesterday in a moment of weakness at work, can't quite believe what i've let myself in for. Furthest I've run before is about eight miles, dear GOD.

Going to do it for Help For Heroes. I have no idea what a reasonable time would be, frankly I will be grateful just to get to the finish line and still have a pulse :lolol:

Good work, thats exactly like I was before my first marathon, had only run 8 miles, it was tough but worth it, great charity work.

Brighton was electric this year. Ive entered, good luck to all NSCs who are doing it.

I had never run anything further than a couple of miles before i started training for this year, and didn't start proper training until after the winter snow and still (just about) managed to finish in 4:45.

Intending to start much earlier this time round and give myself a realistic chance of sub 4 hours
