There was quite a good reader's comment as well talking about how ruthless we're becoming: "We're the Seagulls. GIVE US YOUR CHIPS!"
Should we be nicking that as a chant?

Actually that could work, to the same tune as "Premier League? You're having a laugh!" - "We're the seagulls, give us yer chips, we're the seagulls, give us yer chips."
It’s funny, as this afternoon I commented Leicester were missing Schmeichel, and this evening, I’m watching Schmeichel in goal for Nice. I’m in a campsite bar, just glanced up at the large tv, just as he was taking a goal kick.
He has a clean sheet so far.
I was thinking about how we fared against Leicester yesterday. I used to look up to them as a top championship side. Before we got promoted, we used to compete with clubs like Leicester, Newcastle, Watford, Cardiff, Reading, Norwich, Huddersfield, Middlesbrough, Burnley etc.
Having improved the most, we are the pick of the bunch.
Is this #peakalbion? No, I don't think so. It's much more likely that we are still a work in progress.
Given that we've been improving for years, and that we've improved more than all those clubs mentioned, and many others, it is quite possible, perhaps probable, that the best is yet to come.
Well you deserve a couple of points for that prediction.
Yep.Potter has improved so many players. Mac Allister, March, Gross, Welbeck, Trossard, the list goes on.
Oh I know. Lets take a thread that's 4 months old that's peak Potter and use it to bash fellow fans that have stayed loyal to the club, over a previous manager who did a very good job but has now LEFT.Yep.
This thread highlights a lot of revisionism in recent times on here. I was truly gutted he left and am enjoying the Chelsea meltdown as much as anyone but some of the ‘fraud’ type comments about him are ridiculous. He’s a good coach, did a great job for us and I do feel a bit sorry for him now, he looks haunted.
Really wish he hadn’t joined Chelsea, horrible club on so many levels.
This! This! THIS!Potter definitely did do a good job for us, especially once it finally clicked into gear from April.
But I’ve realised these things aren’t binary, there’s something in the DNA of our set up that gives a constant for players to improve. Estupinan, Caicedo, Mitoma and Mac Allister are better players than they were on 4 September.
Potter and RDZ were/are just part of our playing side success.
Absolutely it’s not binary. Potter, like Hughton before and RDZ now was very lucky to work for what most of us would agree is the best run club in the country with the best owner/chairman, CEO and previously best Director of Football in the league (and let’s not forget that Ashworth is the reason we got Potter).Potter definitely did do a good job for us, especially once it finally clicked into gear from April.

Oh FFS. Let's give Potter the freedom of the Amex and build a statue so we can move on.his only PL wins have come against what we’d all agree were dreadful, off form teams so far - the unique Chelsea game and then the three teams currently in the relegation zone. I don’t think we’ve hit the heights of some the performances under Potter yet. Hopefully tomorrow can be a real statement result for us and he can continue the promising start.
But our success at the moment is massively thanks to the excellent Potter work too despite some of the stuff written on here about him.
you ok hun?Oh FFS. Let's give Potter the freedom of the Amex and build a statue so we can move on.
And maybe give RDZ a little bit more time than a few months before you slag him off any more.
Serious Potter-love-in selective memory going on here. The first 3 years of Potter were dreadful if you only look at the results. Permanent relegation candidates until he got it together.

I had a very high regard for Potter. When the news first broke of Chelsea's interest, I was utterly convinced he was too clever and conscientious, to make such an obvious mistake. The timing was wrong - the club was wrong - he would get better opportunities given time and he would get all the time he needed with us.
He had a supportive senior management team, who had developed a system providing him with a conveyor belt of talented, young players, to be moulded into an existing team ethos, where players and management were completely aligned in their goals and core values.
When he went through his long winless runs, he would often mention how good the set up was at Brighton and how he was just 1 part of the process.
Then when he got his chance at Chelsea, he took all that for granted and assumed his genius would carry him through.
The way it has fallen apart so quickly is hilarious, but not surprising.
He's made £60m from it, so he's done more than ok, but he sacrificed his reputation for it.
