"Fantastic execution for that final free-kick - topped off an amazing performance for Alexis [Mac Allister]. He was incredible, so unlucky to not have the other fantastic strike, calm with the penalty, so he's had a top afternoon."

On lengthy VAR decision on Mac Allister goal:

"Feel sorry for fans and Alexis [Mac Allister] - it is what it is. For the guys in the audience and experiencing that strike they can't enjoy it. But we're happy with five goals and three points."

On conceding early:

"It can happen, it was good play from them with the players Leicester have they're dangerous. Delighted with the response because we got back and took the lead and we were the better team but we gave away a poor goal. We played better in the second half and thoroughly deserved the victory."

"We've lost a couple of key players in the summer but our performances as a group have been strong even though results haven't matched them. It's nice the last few weeks we're getting performances and results. We have to carry on because the Premier League is difficult. It's a humble and ambitious group and we must keep going."

"Five goals at home, we've had some frustrating afternoons here so it's nice to get the win, to play well, have an entertaining game and get the seven goals. It was a nice day for us."

Alexis Mac Allister

"A really good game [to play in] and I am really happy for the boys. We did a really good job and won against a good side. I scored two goals so it is fantastic for me."

"We have been working in training on free-kicks with a machine and the staff to know what we can improve, where to hit the ball and these kind of things. That really helped me, I am much better on free-kicks and this showed that. The work we do every day pays off."

"It is a bit annoying [to have the goal ruled out]. It was a fantastic shot. I don't know if I will score a similar goal again in my life. But it is part of football. We have to accept it."

Leandro Trossard

"We started not good with the goal conceded. We responded really well which is what it is all about, when you get a knock down you step back up. Sometimes it happens when you are not concentrating enough at the start. We are in a good moment and everyone is feeling confident so lucky we could turn it around. It is always nice to get a goal or an assist and help the team get the three points."

"You can't hit it sweeter than he [Alexis Mac Allister] did and so it is not nice for it to be disallowed. Even after that we responded well and luckily we got the third goal and the game opened up and we could take advantage. When you know it is a clear onside you enjoy scoring more but it is part of the game and we have to deal with it."

"It is a great goal [the free-kick from Mac Allister]. He has been practicing a lot and it is reward for hard work."

On top of the world
While I empathise with your feelings, it's a real shame you gave up when you did, because you missed a fantastic victory.

Yes, regretting my haste! I wasn't keen on VAR, and for me, the way it's being used is having a negative impact on watching football. Disallowing what, in any world where spectators are valued, was a perfectly good goal, just pissed me off; so I went and put some shelves up in the garage instead:wozza:

Just a quick word about Trossard. I know he was being subbed off before his goal so it's very fine margins, but his contribution during the second half shows how much he has improved over the last season or so. He is now a consistent match-changer, goal-threat, creator and match winner, even on an off day.

Agreed. I thought he had a poor game up to that, almost gave up running at some points - but then stepped up with a cracking goal just as Mitoma was about to come on!

so pleased MacAllister got his peach of a strike , great goal , great win , **** lester , **** maddison and **** var which wasn't deemed worthy when mwepu was taken down by maddison even though tv replay showed an obvious , blatant foul.......you have to wonder what these pricks are looking at. UTA :albion2::albion2::albion2::albion2:

I know. Mwepu kicked the ball, Maddison the player. What the hell was going on? Pundit the Smith who is drab and clueless personified missed it. Unbelievable. Ridiculous.

It’s funny, as this afternoon I commented Leicester were missing Schmeichel, and this evening, I’m watching Schmeichel in goal for Nice. I’m in a campsite bar, just glanced up at the large tv, just as he was taking a goal kick.
He has a clean sheet so far.

Funniest comment on the BBC website.....

Should of been billed as ‘The urban scavengers derby’

I genuinely spat my coffee out reading that!

Then again, I’m easily pleased!

Just got back after a family visit to Sussex today.
On the way down to Hastings, saw an abundance of Albion shirts.
After watching the highlights....
WOW just WOW :lolol:

I can’t be the only one who remembers that keeper letting Knockaert’s goal in our promotion season slip through him when he played for Huddersfield.

Absolutely abysmal keeper!
