Deserved to loose today. Not many times that's been true this season. Arsenal were there for the taking first half. Missing Lamptey can't be helped but Lallana and Welbeck, seemed ideally suited to this game. White missing too. Bunch of other starters on bench. Was very odd.

At least some worse teams than us lost again.

I can see that we’re are shit in attack and slightly worse at defending (especially at set pieces).

Well if you can see that then you aren't qualified to take over from Potter, he's blind.

So, where are you now, fence? You're ike a beaten dog that keeps coming back for more.

Well I want us to do well obviously, hopefully that’s the same for all of us...

I’ve been critical of the manager plenty. I think we have been very suspect defensively this season, in fact most of our goals have been pretty soft.

I’m alarmed that Potter had a trend for conceding from set pieces at Swansea.

So yeah I’m critical. But I also think our team is not that great either, and without Lamptey and Lallana (and previously Mooy) we can look very ponderous in possession.

I'm sorry but we don't dominate games, we may dominate possesion amongst the back 3 or 5, but our tactics are woefully predictable. If there is one thing we can't do, it's break down a defence, any defence. Yet we insist on passing the ball around until the opposition can organise their defence, knowing we cannot penetrate it.

There needs to be some impetus to stretch the game and overload offensive players, but we will not all the time we play so slowly.

Potter really is devoid of any idea's, sadly we are doomed!

Got to agree with that. We are so slow to move the ball. Pass, pass, pass all in front of the opposition. I doubt that’s being coached but we have zero confidence. When players are making runs they’re not being found so the runs stop. Dumping both strikers was an odd move this eve. Although Maupay was terrible when he came on. For the first time this season I think we’re gonna go down.

And yet all picked in the same team and you were very vocal against anyone who pointed this out pre match

No I said it was understandable and made sense making changes in light of playing just 2 days earlier, you need to rotate. We can and should all expect better performances from players like that who cost many millions to bring in though. They’ve not helped the manager at all with their sub standard performances.

Isn't this what Hughton got the sack for?

This is what I thought as the final whistle was blown. How exactly was that any different than watching us under CH?

I think the commentator's actually had blue and white tinted spectacles on when they were saying how well we played in the first half. We didn't. It was slow and turgid, the only positive being that it broke up Arsenal's flow. I thought Potterball was supposed to be quick, fluid and exciting? That was anything but. I haven't seen any enjoyable football since the Liverpool game.

Does seem strange these second half performances. It's almost as though the other teams just play to lull us to sleep and go in at 0-0, and then come out to play properly after half-time. We simply seem unable now to step up that gear. A lack of urgency and passion isn't there.

Its down to the manager. He should have made changes at HT. He allowed Arsenal to raise their tempo. Anyone could see a goal was coming except Potter. Only reacted when they scored. Game had gone. Feeble management.

Yep, and it nearly worked. You need to let go of your angst at Hughton’s sacking. We are so much better than we were. OK the results aren’t happening but at least we aren’t stinking the division out. We were on the same page when McGhee was here but we’re reading different books now.

Can i ask, in all seriousness, when did we last play a WHOLE 90 minutes that gives evidence to your idea we are 'better than we were'?

Did the players look like they were busting a gut to try and salvage the game at the end? I didn’t think so, and that concerns me.

We don’t look right.

Yep. The best I can say is that our approach play is too slow and deliberate, and therefore was easy to defend against in the second half

It wasn't good. We expected, because of recent history, to beat the arse. This is the premier league. You get bugger all for being ordinary.
As short ago as 23 years, I remember a stupid 4-4 against orient, followed by a stuffing by hull(I think). We are being spoilt with this present day stuff and acting like spoilt kids.
Expectations and perspective, where would you rather be, St James Park, Exeter, or St James Park, Newcastle?

No it isn't. Bernardo did ok, much better than his other outings, not as good as March but certainly decent for backup. Ali J got in good positions and got.some good shots off first half, looked as threatening as any other striker this season so far. Mac Alister linked play and pressed well.

Wow, you really are easily pleased. We could still be playing this time tomorrow without having scored.

We don’t spend 80 mins in our half shitting ourselves and playing for a draw?

But if you preferred watching us under CH that is completely your prerogative. I love watching us now, regardless of results. I HATED watching the last six months under CH

I also know our place, as things stand, is relegation strugglers..

Have you not read the NSC rules, ANYONE who has done under 100 POSTS can not do a facepalm to the superior posters.

Fool.

He had 4 better than you and me and chose not to use them.

Potter has had 18months and we are not much better than a year ago.

I really believe we are serious candidates for relegation now.

We have a lot of matches to go just 2 points behind the tracker, plenty of time to win them back, we need an OG, a pen a striker that knows where the net is and we will turn this around because we are playing with quality and difficult to roll over.

Give Potter that man and we will be top 10.
