With Brezovan I just can't help but think - Swindon released the guy. Why does a club with our stated "ambition" need to pick up what teams like Swindon throw away? If Gus and Tony are serious about promotion we need to look at far better prospects.

For what it's worth, most of his stats right night are better than kuipers and smith.

Not to mention that both Bristol City and Crewe Alexandra TURNED HIM DOWN after trials. Well played for Gus as he was much better cover for Kuipers than Smith was but please don't offer him a long term deal as he is no long term solution.

If a striker scores a hat trick of easy tap ins, we don't complain he didn't chase back to defend, or failed to hold the ball up, or he dived or was lazy etc (at leas within that game). Why, when a goal keeper keeps a clean sheet do we go on about kicking or coming for crosses.

He did his job today -e saved what he had to.

He now has two clean sheets in four. If our other keepers had a 50% clean sheet rate we'd be in a lot better place than we are now.

So did Dagenham and Redbridge.

I feel no confidence with him in goal. He's a nice chap and all that jazz, but he's not a good enough goalkeeper to challenge Michel in my opinion, and it's not an opinion based on a few games for Brighton. He played against us 4 times for Swindon aswell, don't forget, and none of us would have been impressed by any of those performances where he conceeded goal after goal and gave us a penalty at the County Ground last season aswell. If I had my way, his contract wouldn't be renewed after the Torquay game, because his services won't be needed. I'd like to see more of Smith before writing him off completely, he was #1 for Motherwell for 3 years for a reason, afterall. Certainly, we're not better off with Brezovan as a number 2.

I've seen enough of Smith thanks. He's just not up to it. One of the LEAST imposing keepers I have ever seen at any level, and EVERYTHING goes straight through him.

I bet the next game that Michel plays, we'll win.

What short memories some Albion fans have, to make comments like this. I would still prefer Smith to Henderson in our goal, any day of the week. Neither are particularly what we want in goal, if we're honest, but we have higher standards when it comes to goalkeepers because we're used to the high standards set by Michel Kuipers. Some people have unrealistic expectations of goalkeepers at this level because they take Kuipers as being the standard, but he's not. He's much better than alot of folks on here think.

Bit harsh on Brezovan to be honest. I agree with Acker- for me today, only his kicking let him down. But he hasn't played a match for a rather long period (can't remember how long exactly). Let's have Kuipers compete for the goalkeeping position, at the moment I think Brezovan is keeping him out- it can only be good for us if Kuipers raises his game to claim it, surely.

Just out of interest, what are you using to compare Michel Kuipers to the rest of the goalkeepers in this league? Statistics? Or qualitative evidence compiled by yourself? Have you seen every goalkeeper in this league? For a few games to judge a qualitative average?

Just because Hendo AND Smith were garbage, doesn't make my memory any shorter. Preferring one from the other out of those two is like choosing which STD you'd rather have.

Brezovan is clearly not the long term answer either, but he'll have to do for now. As long as I don't see that hopeless hamish haggis flailing around while everything flies past him and through him and under him. I swear the ONLY save I ever saw him make was that pen at Hudds.

The reason he hasn't had a game for ages is because, Bristol City, Crewe and Dagenham & Redbridge all deemed him to be SHIT.

Really? Shit eh? Is that a direct quote from their managers? Or is it just that the position of Goalkeeper is possibly the hardest position to break into in a team?
