Just listening to Priti P on R4 Today programme, no plan to replace the Dublin Agreement.

Apparently she is speaking to individual European countries and feels they have a moral obligation to take illegals back

Bonne chance..

Yes, withdrawing from the Dublin agreement and then insisting other countries abide by it makes perfect sense on Planet Brexit

Equally what you have written is at best misleading.

All EU members - and the UK as we were in the transition stage - were given the option to sign up to the centralised EU bargaining function. We didn't and went our own way but all the EU members did. The EU then arranged, very slowly, deals with the two main manufacturers - Pfizer and Astra Zeneca. From that point the members that signed up - i.e. ALL of them - couldn't do their own deals with those two specific manufacturers. Hungary signed up but the deals they have done have been with the Russian and Chinese vaccine companies - not Pfizer and Astra Zeneca. Now feel free to pop over to Hungary and have one of those vaccines but I know I wouldn't risk them.

The only fly in the ointment for the EU is that Germany has independently purchased 300k vaccines - something a number of other member states have challenged but when the EU were asked ( by The Guardian among others ) if it was against the rules their response was "No Comment" .... hardly surprising that the EU wouldn't want to put its most powerful member ( and highest funder ) in the frame for breaking the rules.

But what I wrote is factually correct, so I can't see how it can possibly be misleading. Brexit had absolutely no effect on our ability to do what we've done and nothing you have written above changes that

(shouldn't we be having this discussion of the Brexit thread ? I've copied this post over )

You do realise that Pfizer and Astra Zeneca aren't going to produce enough vaccine to cover the entire world ? So we are all reliant on the Russian, Chinese and other manufacturers' vaccines to manage this WORLDWIDE epidemic as well.

And of course, the EU allows it's larger members to get away with things. That's how we got away with breaking the rules on exporting shellfish for years. Rules we helped define which now we are out, are crippling our shellfish industry

It's only the western world where Covid was handled badly and ran rampant due to political incompetence, non more so than the UK. Did you watch Panorama ? Those countries that locked down earlier and had effective track and trace got hold of it and eradicated the virus, their economies are back to normal and don't need vaccines. They must laugh at us celebrating vaccines after hundreds of thousands of deaths

It's pretty obvious some of them clearly resent the fact the UK has done exceptionally well on the Vaccine front especially as the EU's handling has been so poor. 5th column showing their true colours once more.

Thankfully the 5th columnists are a very agitated and bitter minority. The silent majority turned up in June 2016, thank goodness for that, the 17.4 million are now, quite literally saving lives.

If you're taking that route perhaps the 17.4m should also take responsibility for the Vote Leave government's 150k Covid deaths as well?

Think you can be excused though as you hate Boris....

Not a fan of the man.
Just so grateful to the 17.4 million. The future is bright for global Britain.

You really couldn't make it up. British organic sausages having to use Danish pork as they can't now get British pork over the border in order to be processed :shootself

UK firm to stop using British pork after post-Brexit border problems

A UK food company whose products appear on the shelves of the country’s largest supermarkets has decided to stop using British pork in its sausages because of the post-Brexit complications of moving meat across borders. After two disastrous attempts since January to send British pork to Germany, where it is made into 75 tonnes of organic sausages annually, the firm behind Helen Browning’s Organic says it has been forced to drop its support for UK farmers and switch to Danish suppliers.

The company, which is named after the Wiltshire farmer who founded the business, supplies beef and pork products to some of Britain’s biggest retailers including Sainsbury’s, Ocado, and Abel and Cole, and is about to launch at Tesco. For two decades, Helen Browning’s Organics sausages – which account for about a quarter of its sales – have been manufactured in Germany because of, according to the company, a lack of a suitable factory in the UK.

“This is a huge step to take. We’re all about supporting British farmers. It goes against everything that we want to do. It doesn’t sit comfortably with us.”

Not a single issue around the NI protocol, Financial Services, Exports, Fisheries, Import controls etc etc that were agreed as part of the 'good deal' introduced on Jan 1st has been addressed or resolved 3 months on. Teething problems, my arse. These are the simple details, rules and regulations of the 'good deal' that was negotiated.

But I'm sure that if enough people say 'Born to win' a lot and 'stop running our country down' that will resolve everything and provide the magic answer to this moronic act of economic self harm, despite all of the evidence to the contrary :dunce:

Drip drip drip..... noticed how many in government just don't want to talk about the "marvellous deal that sets us free " anymore ?

Edit: However, at least we can cover the problem up with flags.....

Government buildings to fly union jack every day under new rules

We couldn't do that if we were still in the EU could we ?

As retirement hobbies go (chuntering away to himself on this thread) .... it's not very productive or useful but there you go.

Why the need to pile in for afters?

Two Profs hasn't been active on here and may not be aware of lower tolerance levels for personal abuse but you certainly are.

They keep coming on here and refuse to talk about anything but Brexit, they don't want to discuss anything objectively. Why? Because they know they won the argument but then lost the sale...

Brexit is an epic fail

If there will be any staggering success (might have to wait decades), they will tell us.
Their skins way to thin, to see what the world is seeing right now.

Any Brexit looney want to list the positives and negatives yet, or are you still all scared to?
