You don't seem to have understood the Parliamentary democratic process that has lead to Brexit very well. Let us then look at your hanging scenario.

In the highly unlikely event of parliament offering the UK a referendum on bringing back hanging, and the equally unlikely event of 51% voting in favour of it, I have no doubt at all that Parliament would block any such legislation. Bit like Brexit really, eh?

Should a General Election then be called, and one of the parties stood with a manifesto commitment to bring back hanging, and if they were then elected with a massive (say about 80 seats) majority in the Commons, they would then have a mandate to do just that, and it would be re-introduced through the medium of Parliamentary democracy.

Of course, many people would be very unhappy about it, but that is how Parliamentary democracy works. It would be a very arrogant stance to take to suggest that anyone who disagrees with you on a give topic - Brexit, let's say - doesn't understand Parliamentary democracy. I'm sure you didn't mean to imply that.

Time will tell. It's good that it's over.

But quite how anyone is declaring it in the way some on here are is gobsmacking. Until the detail is known it's impossible to say if it's worthwhile or not.

It's a bit like signing a striker we have never heard of and declaring him to be the 20 goal as season silver bullet before he's kicked a ball.

It really is disturbing how folk, even mature folk on here, take presentation at face value and don't question it.

All I know is some really good customers of mine have had to leave the UK due to immigration and so forth which seems stupid as they employed people some British who in turn now have no job.

Stop moaning, there is no doubt a new breed of moaners have been growing in this country in the last decade, we need doers, not moaners, they are unproductive and only spread hatred like the devil.


Stop fighting the inevitable, there are still people on here booing their arses out from a vote that happened in 2016. That is mental it's like a bunch of Zaha's.

They scaremongered all the way we would be going off a cliff face.

They need to take a bit of humble pie on board and understand that we have not gone off the cliff face, so they should be happy.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer confirms his party's position on the new post-Brexit trade deal - they will support it when it comes to the Commons.

Giving a short press conference, Sir Keir says it is a "thin agreement", and is "not the deal the government promised - far from it".

He also criticises the government for "leaving everything to the last minute".

But the Labour leader says: "At a moment of such national significance, it is not credible for Labour to be on the side lines.

"That is why I can say today that when this deal comes before Parliament, Labour will accept it and vote for it."

Sir Keir adds: "But let me be absolutely clear - and say directly to the government - up against no deal, we accept this deal, but the consequences of it are yours and yours alone.

"We will hold you to account for it

Indeed. A 2500 page document. I won't be reading it to make sure I get my facts right on NSC, but like any right minded individual, I hope you are wrong about Northern Ireland. It would be tragic if that goes pear shaped. I reckon there will be a lot of sandpapering off the edges of the deal still to come. But let's face it, despite all the posturing, the EU were never going to walk away from a 59 billion leaving gift.

Ireland is an interesting one. It could turn nasty if the Mad Dog contingent find that the island is heading towards unification in all but name. However....I'm fairly optimistic they (collectively) will resist a return of the 'troubles'. A hard border in the Irish Sea doesn't bother me personally. If the proddies gave their heads a wobble they'd probably find themselves better off looking south.

The world knows where we are now, unshackled by 28+ other countries, and can make deals that wont upset or be a disadvantage to others we are attached too?

Why would Asia (or indeed. 'the world', if you like) rather seek out a small nation to offer sweetheart deals than bargian with the united and massive 27? What do we have to offer that the EU market doesn't? What does the world want to sell preferentially to the UK, and buy preferentially from the UK (preferentially versus the EU)? And do you really think the world want to sell to us more cheaply and buy more expensively than its trade with the EU?

As a smaller trading block our hand is weaker surely?
