Currently, yes. Thatcher has said she will do it so there is no going back for her.....however, if parliamentary scrutiny leads to a meltdown and a General Election that may well change. We live in interesting times.

How on earth did you arrive at that conclusion. I was already of the view that we had parliamentary sovereignty and didn't believe the lie about all our laws being dictated to by the EU. I don't see that the decision yesterday is a reversal of the direction we are going (unfortunately) just that the means of getting there will be much more transparent and not just the will of a few Tory bigwigs locked in a room![/QUOTE]

Given yesterday's events, this is a bit ironic, you talking about decisions being made by just a handful! But presumably if a small group of snooterati come to a decision that you like, then that's OK. You don't seriously believe that they are simply interested in a transparent process, do you? Are you really that naïve, or just choosing to ignore what you want to?This is entirely political, as you well know, and they are playing a dangerous game.

I agree. All the high court did yesterday was to highlight how completely clueless Westminster is and that they need to do things properly with due process.

I don't particularly read either, but then nor do I snootily look down on those who do. It is as ever a question of perception -those who do not like the DM, will find any reason to criticise it, and those who do, praise the fact they report on what the liberal snooterati prefer to ignore. As to bile and hatred, some of those on here virulently against the DM, do a pretty good job on . . bile and hatred.

Maybe one where people abide by the vote and do not keep bleating and casting voters as thick, racist and so on because they dared to vote the other way. By delaying the A50 trigger just increases the uncertainty for everyone.

Nobody is delaying anything. British law is being followed.

The judges are interpreting the laws of this land. They haven't made any decisions about Brexit or not, just the process to achieve it. The problem is that the likes of Davies and Fox see this as their little toy to play with. Had May gone down a more open route then the case yesterday wouldn't have arisen but she chose not to and opened the door for the case. We don't know whether we are going to get a hard or soft Brexit, we don't even know if May wants a hard or soft Brexit and I suspect neither does she. I would imagine there are those within the Government on both sides of that line and that is what is causing the problem with going forward.

I'm not sure of your point? I personally did not envisage anyone running rough shod over the UK's parliamentary and legal system for Brexit, or anything else for that matter.

and all this about an election... what exactly will that solve? nothing, there will be lose manifesto pledges from Labour and Conservatives to respect the outcome of the referendum and work on leaving the EU, while the Liberals will say they want another referendum to reverse, and the SNP will oppose leaving and call for indepedence. so it will return most the same MPs and they will still have the same issues to address, and we'll have wasted another 6 months.
