spooky....i was aware the implication of voting leaving The EU in an IN or OUT referendum would result in us leaving the EU if the leave vote won........what else was inferred by leaving or remain?.........it was leave or remain...........surprised so many remainers now saying they didnt know the options.

By implications I am referring to the subsequent processes.

We don't directly vote on laws. We never have, and in this instance the government are not able (according to the court) to exercise executive power based on the referendum result.

The authority resides with Parliament. It's quite simple really.

It was clear about what we were leaving, it was never clear about where we were going ..determining that is the stage we are at now and UKIP supporters will have a very different view of what that looks like than someone from Exit Left,.

you have made the fatal error like many when you think its a left and right thing
exit left and exit right were united in exit

Conversely you as a Remainer didnt, so I presume you are incandscent with rage on this, but you seem to have become distinctly constitutional, so logically you just want your own way however it is delivered, a typical Remainer.

How on earth did you arrive at that conclusion. I was already of the view that we had parliamentary sovereignty and didn't believe the lie about all our laws being dictated to by the EU. I don't see that the decision yesterday is a reversal of the direction we are going (unfortunately) just that the means of getting there will be much more transparent and not just the will of a few Tory bigwigs locked in a room!

Actually the irony is that the very thing that many Brexiters wanted, ie returning decision making to our Parliament is exactly what the judges have delivered!!!
No, irony would have been served if the EU stepped in and helped their cause. Just because it's not the decision leavers wanted does not mean it's ironic.

That's a curious statement. If we ever were to use parliamentary sovereignty to override the laws dictated to us by the EU, we'd be in breach of EU law.

Perhaps, in that case, it's the remainers who are thick?

but as we have heard here, there are no brexiters worried at all. Have seen it posted several times over the last few hours :)

yep....no one is worried because we are still leaving.......surely you can work that out
its fun though arguing with the remainers who think the process will be stopped......how stupid are they?

Yeah, it is reflected in the Brexit supporting ;press.
Its fun watching the more vociferous 'we have our country back' moaning about our countries laws delaying brexit. How stupid are they?

agreed
they should focus on how this will simply delay the inevitable and just cause prolonged uncertainty in the markets. We need to push on and get negotiations finalised. Lets hope parliament will agree a swift agreement to invoke article 50 and get the timeline back on track to invoking it by the end of march

It will not " delay the inevitable " but will merely open up the government's strategy to parliamentary scrutiny, people with better minds than the likes of Letwin, Davis and Fox. Brexit is a serious thing, far too serious to be entrusted to a shady few who are desperate to leave at any cost in order to get to the Promised Land or Valhalla.

Great fun seeing the headlines on the front pages this morning, the Mail, Express and Sun have really spat their dummys.....hilarious overreaction !

All very predictable. The red tops have gone from the gutter to somewhere deep down in the sewer and beyond. What is so disturbing, so many readers actually believe the crap in these 'publications'. From Sun simpletons to Mail reading grumpy Grandads who finish reading each item with 'have you seen this Dorothy'? 'Its disgraceful'. Then of course, there's the 10p comic, The Express. The Comical Ali of newspapers (sic). Their ridiculous Lady Di conspiracy stories and warnings of ten foot of snow always raised a chuckle as well as a roll of the eyes. The latest bile on their front page isn't really funny though.

Its a sad reflection on the quality of modern day journalism in The UK. Freedom of the press should come with a decorum of responsibility too.

not stupid at all, its common amongst everyone that delay and uncertainty until negotiations are agreed are going to play havoc with the markets. We need to crack on and get negotiations finalised for stability. Deliberately delaying the inevitable is welcomed by the moaners ......what is the gain?

so you think we are still on track to invoke article 50 by end of march as per Mays plans

It will be an interesting one. If Goldsmith wins easily, however, it shows that MPs can go against their constituents' wishes on the EU - so MPs who want to vote Remain in a Brexit constituency will know that they may be able to do that with impunity. If Goldsmith loses (or wins narrowly) it would be a warning shot to MPs who were thinking of against their electorate on this issue

Just to muddy the waters a bit more, the Green Party announced last night they would not field a candidate. Can only boost the chances of the LibDems.

The Express wins today for me, "...since the dark days when Churchill vowed we will fight them on the beaches...." The World's Greatest Newspaper ? I think not :rotlf:

Have we reached peak tabloid yet? Sadly I doubt it.

Have you ever read about the sneering liberal snooterati? Look no further. Coupled with the sneering comes the equally predictable wild sweeping statements in an attempt to lend some credence to the one-sided diatribe.
