Gene editing in England had been covered under the same tight regulation that has restricted the commercial development of GM crops under EU law. Brexit has enabled the Westminster government to relax the rules for the newer technology.

English people can now be fed with gene edited animals. Obviously being banned elsewhere it won't do a lot for British exports, but I'm sure commercial interests won't override safety concerns. It's hardly BSE is it ?

Reassuring when you see the countries now on the same level as us. Belarus, Iran, Iraq, North Korea...

I presume it will be labelled in the shops? In catering and valued added food it will be hidden, but many will just buy whatever is cheapest.

Quite many Japanese media used to be busy reporting Brexit related news, and I understand how big Brexit is there in UK.

Btw, here in Japan, many media are reporting today that UK is joining TPP. British media are not reporting about TPP much?

That's because Britain doing a trade deal with countries on the other side of the world (which, as your map amply demonstrates is very energy efficient for the 21st century ) that has the potential to make 0.08% growth in a decade really isn't big news, but it really pales into insignificance when compared to the 4% reduction in GDP that we suffered when we ceased the trading deal with our next door neighbours. I suspect that may be why the British press really aren't that interested.

Completely regardless of the effect produce treated or grown with chlorine, hormones, antibiotics and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) under CPTPP, will have on the British agriculture industry. I suspect it's pure coincidence our laws on genetically modified agriculture were changed a couple of weeks ago.

It is being reported, pro Brexit press claiming it a victory for post Brexit Britain, and the end of the argument to rejoin the EU, anti Brexit press pointing out that it is expected to boost our economy less than 0.1%.
The problem for us is that we just don't output much stuff that the rest of the world cant get cheaper, nearer, sooner, or better, and we already have deals with Japan, Australia, NZ and Canada which I don't think are enhanced much, if at all, by this agreement, and as far as Japan and Canada are concerned, are not as good as the arrangements EU member states have.

Just heard we will have lower tariffs on palm oil, great for speeding for rain forest destruction and for unhealthy processed foods.
