Article in the Torygraph highlighting issues around medical trials in the UK, apparently it's all red tape, the stuff the EU is fond of, yet EU countries don't suffer the same delays?

An explanation of a large part of the issue here.

Of course. This wasn't even Farage's lot, this was Vote Leave. Essentially the Tories, those at the heart of the UK government since.

The silly people didn't even bother to secure their domain name...

Here's their site from 2016

...and yet the Brexit disaster STILL attracts an (admittedly dwindling) cult following... and some of them are even Albion supporters! I am keen to see who will the last one to desert the rapidly sinking Brexit ship!

All, plus more, predicted in this very thread many years ago. All of this was known by anyone in the industry.

Seriously. This thread is a brilliant record of how much of a clusterfuck the whole idea of Brexit is. Look at the first 100 pages where there were a load of people who thought the idea had some merit. Future historians could use NSC as future citation material. It'd certainly be a good resource for corpus linguistics analysis.

I know, just thought Wank Warrior might be interested, as he was sure there was no real evidence of Brexit harms.
At a previous UK client I had access to their Brexit mitigation and it involved relocating myriad functions out of the UK because of the reasons given above; Dublin and Amsterdam being the main beneficiaries.

The amount of lost skilled jobs and lost revenue will make you weep.

There’s also and a bunch of significant scientific collabs and projects which the UK does not get involved in now. You might remember Boris trumpeting the alliance UK formed with Switzerland. I’m sure Switzerland has some very able scientists but it’s no match for the EU/US group they left and begged to be allowed back into.

In this thread I predicted the UK would turn from a leader to a 2nd tier nation when it comes to the pharma sector; it’s well on its way and it will come at a human and financial cost.

Going well, I see.
Indeed, exactly as predicted throughout this thread, despite all the claims of our Unionist Brexiteer friends on here

NHS trusts recruit from ‘red list’ countries to make up for Brexit loss of EU staff

NHS trusts in England have increased recruitment from low-income “red list” countries to make up for the post-Brexit loss of EU staff, despite a code of practice to safeguard health services in those developing countries. A report by the Nuffield Trust thinktank also identified shortages in vital specialist areas since Brexit, including dentistry, cardiothoracic surgery and anaesthesiology.

The report says that since 2021, the Northern Ireland protocol obliging EU trade rules to be followed in the region has led to a different set of medicines being available compared with the rest of the UK. Of the 597 products specifically approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency since Brexit, “only eight were also approved for Northern Ireland under the same name and company”.

Shirley only a total moron would still be singing it's praises and giving 'Ironic thumbs' :dunce:

From that article

The Eurostat data, first reported by the Local, showed striking variations between EU member states, with Sweden accounting for nearly half (1,050) of all British citizens ordered to leave over the period and the Netherlands almost a third (615).

Malta told 115 UK nationals to leave its territory, France 95, Belgium 65, Denmark 40, Germany 25 and Austria 10, while some countries with large populations of British residents, including Spain, Portugal and Italy, reported no expulsion orders.

Benson said the contrasts most likely reflected domestic policy differences on immigration, registration requirements, and recording and reporting. “Denmark obviously has a notoriously tough approach to all immigration,” she said.

It's almost as though each country has the sovereign right to determine its own immigration policy?

Can I throw a spanner in the woke agreement on these pages? I'm not entirely sure it is Brexit that has caused the current crisis in the NHS. That is the result of 13 years of Tory austerity, alongside what keeps them in power (their singular pursuit of it, the press, FPTP, 'the establishment', ...).

Apart from the fact a significant proportion of staff 'f***ed off back where they came from'

which is 'exactly wot we voted for'

There's an element of Darwinism in this. Dying of ignorance.

Staffing.

Plus the MASSIVE cost of Brexit. Money that could have been spent on improving our NHS.

I’d say a pretty big, pretty direct impact.
