I was just thinking, old uncle Jacob has been Minister for Brexit opportunities for a while now and i've not heard anything yet?

You'd think such an advocate for Brexit would be bursting at the seams with ideas and opportunities

I know a lot of Kent voters voted to leave the EU but I do feel sorry for all the diesel fumes and and the discarded bottles of piss they are going to have to put up with now....until Mogg comes up with an interesting solution ....yawn.

Food prices up 6% thanks to Brexit

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-food-prices-living-costs-b2065985.html

“a clear and robust impact of Brexit-induced trade frictions increasing food prices for UK consumers during a time when the economy is already facing inflationary pressures from global sources”.

Little surprise the numerous clients journalists under the Rothermere's, Murdoch's and Barclay's that sold the 2016 con are silent.

The Tories war on the poor continues and their mates gets richer...

So will checks begin when the trade war begins?

You couldn't make this up, for EU exporters this is as good as it gets, more or less business as usual with UK exporters constrained by UK government sanctions

Au contraire ! They are fully clued up on this aspect of regaining our sovereignty.

We have the right and needs to do our own border checks on goods coming to the UK but.....this costs thousands of Customs Officers and will increase delays and costs for imports and it will immediately show up how shit Brexit really is. So far we have small businesses whining that its harder and more expensive to export but their stories are not being highlighted by the MSM on a regular basis. The moment that import controls start almost everything imported gets delayed and increases in cost for all of us, thats when the Emperor's new clothes are finally revealed to be an absolute lie....

So, they kick it in to the end of 2023 saying it will save " Businesses " up to one billion Pounds but overlooks the savings to the government of NOT employing the estimated 30-50,000 Customs officers required to do the checks.... even more telling is this little snippet from Mogg quoted on the BBC......

"Mr Rees-Mogg said it would have been "an act of self-harm" if the government had decided to go ahead with the import controls.

He said the checks would have brought "quite significant" price increases for people at a time when the government was "trying to reduce costs."

These would have included a "71% increase - maximum level - on the retail price" of small deliveries like cheese.

He said: "You would have been adding potentially £500 of costs on a shipment of fishfingers, that then falls through to the consumer."

So, the " Act of self Harm "gets kicked in to the future to either be delayed until post the General Election or, just before the GE so as the effects don't bite and cloud voter judgement.

But, import checks and control have to come in to force at some point and Mogg has already let the cat out of the bag by saying that they are an " Act of Self Harm "..... that isn't going to change in the future, it will still be an act of self harm eventually.

I saw the Mogg interview. Pity he doesn't care as much about UK exporters as he does about EU exporters

The end of 2023 !! 7.5 years after the vote !

The man who said cheaper food, cheaper shoes and lower energy bills. Where are the "Brexit opportunities?????????????????"

7% inflation rate, 6% increase in food prices due to Brexit, cost of living crisis.

Does make you wonder how our economy might be doing had we not shot ourselves in both feet

And meanwhile JRM in response extends the smuggling and VAT fraud period.

Even the Frazzles have stopped coming here to defend all these Brexit benefits.

Have they woken up and are now beginning to smell the bacon?
