It was merely a passing observation sadly met with a supercilious response. They were buying at around 1.10 if i remember correctly.
Well it was a pointless "passing observation" as this bears no relation to any real levels, and to prove how pointless it was you don't even understand the difference between buying and selling , if , as you said , you could get €0.94c for £1 , then they are BUYING sterling , they would be SELLING sterling at €1.10 for £1

Fair enough, you could apply the same standard to the Brexit process then ?

I very much hope we have the opportunity to judge the Brexit process and give a verdict, via a referendum to stick with the Union or press ahead with Brexit.
What Brexit cannot deliver and is a situation I hope for, is a United Europe, so I will need some convincing.

The real worry for us, is it shows how difficult it can be to get a trade agreement with the E.U.,the Dutch are also holding up an agreement with the Ukraine that everyone else was signed up to and was ready to go with, 2 years ago.

As far as the E.U. are concerned it is Belgium that is not signing up, the Belgian constitution needs all 5 of its regional parliaments to agree to it before it can give its agreement to the E.U.
It is the Walloons "veto" within Belgium that is the blockage, it will be the Belgian Federal Government that bribes one of it's constituent parts I suspect.

But we will be on our own, so should be easier as we don't need various countries to agree?

Yes in theory, but we still need to start slowly and start with the smaller players upon Brexit,to gain negotiating experience.....would hate for us to sell ourselves short.

Okay (assuming you're responding to post #1416) year on year, France produces roughly the same as the UK but as it has a far higher rate of unemployment then it must do so by working far fewer hours than the UK and producing far more per worker than the UK. However, inter nation comparisons not the real issue, the question is if the UK has poor productivity rates in the EU why would they increase after brexit?

So are you advocating staying in the EU,actively reducing employment to EU levels, thereby scaring the remaining workers into producing more to keep their jobs?

(in reply to post #32) The point being made was that we may soon need a trade deal with the EU, which any of its members will be able to veto and stall. Pretty worrying for anyone who's business needs trade with the EU...

some airport exchanges give different rates for scottish and english notes, that doesnt make a case for scottish independence!

He was nominated for the position by the European council, who voted 26 to 2 (us and Hungary opposed) and elected to the position by the European Parliament.(422 for, 250 against). He had a far better majority than leave did in the Brexit referendum.

You sound like a fan!Have you read his published diatribe 'Ruling Europe'?

You voted to leave. It's of no concern to you what the EU gets up to now.

It is if the EU stall world trade with their total uselessness at agreeing trade treaties.Have they still got embargoes on 84 countries?

Plenty of businessmen in plenty of countries trade with the EU without a trade deal. We and the EU will
conclude such a deal if it suits both sides. Looking at trade flows both ways I would think it does so you shouldn't worry too much.

Not the real one
Sorry to go O/T. The Op's thread title contains the word 'headed' and I'm not blaming the op. Nor am I being the spelling or grammar Police. 'Heading' should be the word used in English instead of 'headed' in US English. Does the Americanisation of the English language grate on anyone else?

The first clause in your question is correct, the second isn't and the third is a construct you've derived from either simplistic or deliberately obtuse logic.
