Yep I totally agree, they only had to register properly, quite a few Europeans living under radar in the UK are packing their bags too!

I got my mums settled status sorted ages ago. Any European who doesn't get this done by June 2021 should have no complaints.

A chap I work with has parents who moved to Spain about 2 years ago as they loved the life. They cameback for a holiday and got stuck with the lockdown.. They did say that The Spanish authorities had been very helpful with advice as regards applying for leave to stay, taking a Spanish driving test and going on " The Books " as it were.

However lots of Brits are refusing on principle to register and comply and those are the ones that will end up being kicked out... Unlike Johnson, you can't have your cake and eat it.

Can you imagine the uproar in the UK if for example all the Eastern European Taxi drivers had to take a British Driving Test....

...no? I can see much triumphalism in the tabloids.

I’m glad you’re back, can you tell me what football team you support please?

I think we can safely assume he's not Brighton. Just like Jolly Red Giant, Mr Putdown, Loz, dsr-Burnley and lots of others. You don't have to be.

Enjoy the moral high ground and then please leave this particular hobby horse at the door, just like WZ and his "double accounts". It's getting boring.

Sadly, Gove is a serial liar, I genuinely feel for anyone who gives him any credence. This is the man who freely admitted his own " Driving " eye test, admitted he took cocaine and has ****ed off most people in a political career which has led him to the one accolade he deserves, The Most Punchable Politician.

As the man most likely to be the next Tory leader you'd think he'd be so utterly toxic he'd turn voters off. Then you remember just what a shitawful person Boris Johnson is and you realise actually people will vote for any awful person.

isn't there a chap on this forum in denial over this? He has a home in France and was quite nonchalent about it, thinks he can just fill out a form...?

We've got a couple of dreamers on here thinking they can sit out the whole winter in Spain for their older years on their £99 annual travel insurance policy. Still kidding themselves it will be business as usual as they will be welcomed with open arms as health tourists

Well they are wrong, you want to live in Spain you play by the rules, if you don’t like it tough, same here for Europeans that don’t have settled status

Rules for Taxi driving are actually set at a Council level and these are for Brighton.

We recommend that you enrol at one of the commercial knowledge schools and begin learning the Brighton & Hove knowledge. Once you're a large portion of the way through the course, you'll need to complete an application form, undergo a medical examination, police and DVLA checks.

You will also need to achieve the Level 2 BTEC Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver Award. You can arrange this by contacting training companies or colleges. When you are ready to make your first application, you will need to complete the relevant application forms.

You will also be required to pass the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Assessment. Information regarding fees and the telephone booking number can be found in the latest DSA information pack.

Once you're deemed to be a fit and proper person, and passed the Brighton & Hove knowledge tests and routes test, you can get a taxi driver licence. Download the Blue handbook (PDF 979KB), which provides guidance for Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Drivers, Vehicles and Operators.

But they tend to be very similar and I'm not aware of any council that doesn't require drivers to take the British Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Assessment Test :dunce:

Are you aware of any council that requires applicants to have held a British driving licence for at least 5 years prior to the application?

Edit.12 months 3 for TFL

Yes if you want to live in Spain apply for residency, they'll take you in you've got plenty of dough and a big pension.

Nothing like reducing your options of why you can reside from 31 to 1 overnight.

Still blue passports and a Brexit festival coming soon

Apparently they're creating a museum about it now as well. Although it would still only be the second worst museum in the country after Portsmouth's "Genesis Expo".

Hopefully they will have a section on 'radicalised remainers' , perhaps you could contribute something .. EU flag passport cover?

I would imagine the remain section will have wall art made from soiled mattress covers.
