Yeap..

When your currency falls purchasing power falls, wages are still way below 2016 levels in USD and Euro terms, Brits are poorer. FACT

Thomas Cook have been taking the hit and swallowing the losses, they can swallow no more

As usual Brexiteers on here are in denial and refuse to admit Brexit has had any part to play..

A Thomas Cook employee was on a phone in today and he said he thinks there are some dodgy dealings going on. He thinks that the British arm of Thomas Cook has been tipped over the edge due to the quite large fleet of UK registered TC planes. His theory is that these planes may have difficulty accessing EU airspace and airports after Oct 31st while British registered, if the company goes bust, the European TC company can buy these planes from the liquidators quite cheaply and then re-register them in an EU country and they then get their full access back. Sounds plausible , oh, and obviously nothing to do with Brexit !

As far as I can tell the entire company has gone bust, unless I'm missing something. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Cook_Group

I'd be surprised if TC own the planes. They'd be leased surely.

Land, Sea, Air If you recognise each others regulatory standards you don't have to carry out regulatory standard checks at the border so diverging from EU standards wouldn't cause the issues you suggested

Had any more ideas on how your preferred Canada ++++++++++++++++ deal will avoid a NI border by recognising each others regulatory standards whilst diverging from those same standards ?

Or should I just file it with you other 'good deal' suggestion of Britain having unilateral control over getting rid of the backstop ?

No wonder you are having to revert to 'no deal' if you, one of the 'good deal's' great supporters can't define a 'good deal'.

Off out, so you have some time to think about it :bigwave:

Good point, I'm only repeating what was said on the radio. It might still be true,TC UK defaults on the lease's suddenly the owner finds he has 30 planes he is not earning any money on anymore.... TC Europe "reluctantly " offers the owners 50% of what TC UK were paying, owners snap hand off for anything is better than nothing.

Bloody Worthing!
You are wasting your time they don't. Some people (#teameucrew) are intent on exploiting any bad news story to score points about Brexit ... all rather distasteful but there you go.

Your response is just a bit cheap itself..

1, did the value of sterling impact adversely on TC? (yes)
2. did Brexit contribute to a low value of Sterling )yes)
3, was Brexit therefore a contributory factor in the demise of TC? (yes)
4. does this mean that those who are anti-Brexit were celebrating the demise of TC? (no but if yes, then they should be ashamed of themselves)

If the Brexit vote hadn't happened would TC with all it's ongoing problems still be a going concern? If yes then please show your workings, if no or don't know then exploiting bad news stories to score cheap points is entirely fair.

Love it when the media’s hype proves bullshite.

5live and LBC spent the afternoon laying it on thick “Within hours Labour could well be an out and out Remain party. It appears that the voting conference delegates and most trade unions have got their Remain way”.

Wind on, Corbyn and McCluskey won, getting their continued fence-sitting way.

Another reason to switch over from BBC/Sky/LBC hyperbole, and listen to relaxing music.

This. Everyone from Simon Calder to business analysts have said that TC was a slow car crash, dying under a mountain of debt and an outdated business model over the last 16 years. “An analogue business in a digital age” is the succinct summary from travel industry and business experts.

Furthermore, the business experts squarely blamed the awful senior management of former CEO Manny Fontenla-Novoa, who from 2003 to 2011 set TC on its course to oblivion.

There’s only one NSC member imho who is qualified to have any legitimate opinion on this and I’m certain he avoids this thread!

Gods country fortnightly
Car crash interview this evening from Boris, offered nothing and as usual didn't give any answers to questions....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqNCRCq_k-o

But does reckon after Brexit we can ban the sale of shark fin soup (sorry Boris, already banned by the EU some years ago). More lies as usual...
