If there was a second Brexit referendum how would you vote?

William Hague would look a complete liberal compared to todays average Tory, mind you he has kept well out of all this infighting.

Hague was from the more moderate wing, the same as May, Cameron and Osborne.

Those right wing characters make a lot of noise, hold the headlines, but are 100 MP’s at most. I don’t think people have to worry about 100 backbenchers, imho.

Hague would also look a complete international statesman compared to today's average Tory.

More charismatic than David Davis :lolol:

Another one who bizarrely thought himself worthy to lead a major political party.

Not just a Tory thing, boring Chris (later convicted) Hulne fought a battle to be LibDems leader.

Exactly. No one who voted Leave had a ****ing clue what they were voting for, in terms of any practicalities.
:dunce:
Really , i voted to leave the EU as stated on the ballot paper, leave means leave, no deal , no half way in half way out, bye bye EU, i wasn't the only one, :)

But the 17.4 million leavers didn't just state they wanted Brexit, they were offered the vote by the remainers (Cameron et al). And the only reason we don't know what they wanted, is because they weren't asked (it wasn't on the ballot paper). And the leavers haven't said they all want the same meal, they just want some meal, having been offered a meal in the first place. And they haven't asked for it to be perfect.

You can blame the politicians who supported the leave campaign, as well as the remainer politicians who can't deliver it, but it's a bit rich blaming those that voted.

I think you have hit the nail on the head with that post.

Since day 1. They have stoked the parliament fiasco as it works in their favour.
Question for any remainer what happens and what do we get out of the 39B we put in every year

Firstly, we don't put in 39Billion every year, that figure is an estimate of what we would pay over the coming years to fulfill spending commitments we approved as members, and our share of the pension payments of the people that have been working on our behalf in the EU during our membership.
What we pay annually is based on our Gross National Income, plus 75% of customs duties, plus a tiny percentage of VAT receipts, same as every other member, but then there is a rebate applied, just for us. So in 2018, GNI, plus Customs Duties, plus 0.3% of VAT receipts came to about £18.6Bn, then we got the UK rebate so we kept £5.6Bn and paid £13Bn to the EU budget, they then spent £4.1Bn on Public Sector in the UK and also a relatively small amount with other UK organisations, which takes the Net UK contribution to about £8.5Bn.

If you really want to know what we get for that, I could give you a taster, I could not cover everything, but I am not sure you are really interested anyway.

All this 'Brexit meal' nonsense is somewhat of an overreach.

To put it simply (remember everybody needs to understand)

Nope - as politely as I can put this: you are factually wrong.

No Deal Brexit wasn’t an option, as confirmed by the Leave campaign before the vote. You didn’t vote for No Deal as it wasn’t an option.

One issue for Leavers is that there are some who insist we leave with a deal and wouldn't want to leave without one and others who demand we leave without a deal and believe a softer Brexit does not represent 'leaving' at all, and then there's all shades of opinion between these two extremes.... No blame attached to their ignorance (no options were on the ballot paper) but it clearly isn't a simple binary choice. There may be many who simply wish to leave and are not bothered whether it is 'hard' or 'soft' but there is no evidence to suggest they are in the majority....
