So while the teachers were busy helping this kid who couldn't talk a word of English to get him up to speed, what happened to the other kids in the class?
My other half was a specialist English intervention teacher on a programme called Every Child A Reader ( ECAR ) until the funding was pulled for her job, it was pretty much 50/50 that her children were English or European/ Third World. Many English parents were either illiterate or of very low standard of English and were unable to support their own children, most of the foreign children's parents had poor English language skills but encouraged their own children as best they could AND learned from their children.
