Yes, because predicting the state of an economy in a decades times is exactly the same as laying bricks....

These forecasts should always be taken with a pinch of salt as external factors change everything, they are, however, a group of respected independent academics that very carefully make these forecasts with a lot of evidence to back them up. Doesn't make them right, but they're worth listening to.

Well for a start the people on this thread who immediately jumped on these forecasts suggesting this either proved them right or Brexiteers wrong. You probably gave them a thumbs up.

Some do seem to give the impression they would rather see UKplc go tits up rather than see Brexit succeed.

I've thought just the same about those who want Article 50 now/3months ago/before any cohesive plan is in place/get on with it,as nothing can go wrong etc.

Consumer and business confidence has remained remarkably resilient despite the best efforts of some to talk us down. Unfortunately I expect the negativity will continue or get worse until the desired result is achieved.

My financial adviser (an Outer) is surprised that nobody seems to be talking up the 2019 figures and beyond,when even the OBR admit to us being £200 million a week better off.Fair enough ,not the £350 million talked about during the Referendum campaign,but still better in UK's pocket than the wastrels in Brussels!

Yep, it's quite sad really. I have said before if anyone will drive us in to a proper recession it will be the constant negativity being churned out over and over again from remainers. Just because remainers can't get what they want, then everyone should suffer.

I am sure I heard Chote say on R4 today that the OBR assume that saving will be spent on something else (NHS anyone?)

So in that sense I suppose he means the saving will not reduce the deficit. But will presumably have a positive impact somewhere in the world of government spending. He didn't have my full attention I must admit so if anybody else was paying attention pls correct me.

Found this in the news (Belfast Telegraph no less)
In its report, the OBR said it was not able to make any forecast of how much money would be saved and had therefore worked on "the fiscally neutral assumption that any reduction in these transfers to the EU would be recycled fully into extra domestic spending".

If it goes towards replacing lost EU grants then we will be about 100 million a week worse off still.

Here we go again, if you don't believe that lower sterling, higher oil prices, higher inflation, etc are not a good thing you are guilty of being anti British and want the country to fall back to the Dark Ages.
Being realistic and being able to understand financial issues does not mean that you want to be poorer or to lose your job.
All it actually means is that you haven't buried your head in the sand to ignore these issues.

You seem to forget it was those that voted to leave that actually voted to be poorer, and acknowledged that things would get worse, so pour yourself another glass to celebrate getting what you voted for. It could be your last glass for some length of time.

As for the PM, you are an idiot if you believe for one moment she or her Chancellor have actually changed their opinion on what they personally believe about the EU. They're both 60-odd and have been in politics for many years supporting the Tory Party's pro-EU line so why would they both change the votes they cast on 23rd June 2016? They are party servants performing what they see as their duty, but May in particular lacks the nous to exercise real judgement and take stock of the real weight of evidence now building against Brexit.

What are you drivelling on about?Eu grants are just a portion of our total payment in,being grudgingly given back to us.£200 million pound a week BETTER off after all else is taken into consideration.Look forward to reading your attempt at an answer when I return from hols

I thought her job was Prime Minister with a wider remit than simply to take us out of the EU?

As Prime Minister she needs to possess the ability to look at Brexit in context of the wider issues facing the country. However, the religious zeal with which she seems hell-bent on executing the advisory recommendation that was the EU referendum vote - to the extent of trying to bypass Parliament completely - suggests that she has tunnel vision. A complete disaster of an appointment.
