Those who are against racism but don't support a violent marxist organisation maybe?

Idiotic riposte to a good point.

Threatening clubs and players to kneel in subservience or else won’t prove anything.

Using that logic, every sci-fi geek at my school was committed to gay rights because at break times they’d yell out “I’m gay.” But at the time they were being pinned against the wall by a couple of thugs who’d told them to shout that out for the amusement of other thugs and their girlfriends, or else they’d be subjected to some form of punishment (half Nelson or Chinese burns usually). So it proved nothing at all.

“Taking the knee” (another ghastly media buzzword) is tainted by BLM. People saw rioting during lockdown, public property being damaged, and the police kneeling in subservience to the mob. That’s what a lot of people are thinking when they see footballers kneeling.

Do-gooders are oblivious to this, content in their virtue signalling, but the fact that racist abuse has increased suggests that, as always, middle class activists do more harm than good when they meddle.

Here are two things that I think will lessen the problem.

1. Scrap kneeling.
2. Stop the media publicising it when people send racist Tweets. Acting like it’s the most heinous thing ever will just encourage copycats.

Kick it out would still exist. It was less divisive, was widely supported, and didn’t hitch its wagon to a group that wants to destroy family units and capitalism.

Black players have spoken about against it. That’s how divisive it is. (And I’d admire their guts for doing so).

Do you want to sort out a problem or do you just want to make an empty gesture?

Not sure why anyone loving now should have “remorse” for the slave trade. I wouldn’t expect the descendants of pit and mill owners to have remorse that their ancestors had mine hard at work in dangerous conditions when they were kids. It wasn’t them that did it.

Yeah, that’ll solve everything.

I only got halfway through the thread quoting your grovelling apologies for racism, plus your textbook whataboutery, your vast ignorance of the issue, and your sheepish, child-like peddling of the oft-proven lie that BLM is a 'violent Marxist organisation' - a lie only continued by those who have no desire to stop racism.

Your colours have been well and truly attached, and seen by all. Decent society knows who you are. And it's disgusting. You should be ashamed.

My issues is not with them doing it, it's with them being told to do it by the Premier League. This should be a personal choice and I don't believe it is, they are told to take a unified approach. No one doing it should be villified, no one not doing it should be villified. But it should be their choice either way.

If you don't like what I say, there's an ignore button. Use it.

And use the time saved to look up what sheepish and grovelling actually mean.

If zaha doesn't agree with it then why is he doing it?
I wonder if his words have been misenterpreted but if not just stay standing if he finds it degrading.
If people want to kneel they can kneel and if they want to stand them they can stand.
It's not a problem.

He seems to be thick as mince. Ian Wright gets it, Dotun Adebayo gets it, he doesn't. Oh well, never mind.

Its a long story but basically Marxism supports and encourages civil right movements and civil disobedience so most of the times you see movements like this, there will be Marxists involved/Marxists will get involved.

That's not the case though is it. It was a decision made by the captains of all 20 clubs, as representatives of their playing squads, and that was heavily communicated when this started. The Premier League rightfully decided to support the players in doing so. They decided to take a unified approach as a collective of players, they weren't told to do so by the league. It's not been forced upon anyone. If Zaha doesn't want to take the knee, he really doesn't need to, he can just stand up and watch every other player do it as a united message.

Yes, they’re opportunists. They need violence and they need people to be oppressed. They’re not there to actually help blacks, gays, transgender etc. They’re there to whip them up if possible, to marginalise the peaceful protestors and promote the more radical. Also, to provoke others to attack them.

They want chaos and will happily use marginalised groups to achieve that.

Don’t worry, I have all his series on DVD. I never discriminate against people on the grounds of skin complexion.
Bit of back peddling there, nice.
He doesn’t fulfil the criteria for a gammon. It’s more about false patriotism. Anyway, shitty thread full of Brexity Gammony Thickets. Not for me, Clive.

Can you imagine the reaction if a couple of clubs had said "nah, we are ok because we do xyz and we don't believe the knee is the best way to go"

We had a strange situation earlier this season when QPR got called a racist club, which is ridiculous

I don't think they had much choice in the matter at all

But they did because they don't take the knee anymore, Brentford have done the same. They've done it once since Les Ferdinand put out the statement say "na, we are ok because we do XYZ and we don't believe the knee is the best way to go" and that was because Millwall fans booed their own players for doing it.

Genuinely wonder where you think there is a lack of choice here? The Premier League captains, as representatives of their teams, have all agreed to present a united front across the league for the whole of this season. They are not contractually bound to do so and it is not a Premier League initiative. The PFA ran a survey of all of its members recently and the overwhelming majority wanted to continue to make the gesture. That in itself is as much a choice as not doing it.

Did QPR get called a racist club? Don't remember this at all. I remember Les Ferdinand got interviewed about it, don't remember much fuss. Other than it (like Brentford and Zaha) got seized on by people who don't seem to think the problem exists and don't like the knee taking.

Why do I think in the height of the BLM marches/movements/outcry the PL clubs/players had any other choice than to do it? - what do you think would have been the response to a club or player that didnt?

I should add It was the right thing to do at the time, but it should have finished at the start of the season due to loss of impact with other things taking its place.
