So best available won’t work if you’re trying to secure more than one?
If you ask for 2 seats and there are not 2 seats together it will error and say no tickets available even if there are many singles.

That's what happened when I tested anyway

Club should probably look at this. Although this might be a good thing as some people could order for all their mates at the same time. Wouldn't seem fair that one person could order 10 singles at once.

"Then the vast majority of season ticket holders who do not do away games as a rule and may only have their season ticket points plus a few home cup games, in essence a very large number spread over a very small points range." trouble is if you cant get to away games cost time family commitment whatever, it becomes a vicious circle of unable to go unless you go to further afield
My reply that you have quoted was an explanation as to why when you go down the points ladder there are more people in a smaller band width. I agree with what you are saying but would not probably call it a vicious circle but more having to do the hard yards. Games like Brentford and Bournemouth in particular are inevitably going to sell quickly with the small numbers available but some London games go a long way down the points tiers e.g. West Ham. I would be interested if you can come up with a solution that does not involve some fans who have been to Newcastle, Manchester(twice) Liverpool etc missing out to someone who is only able, for whatever reason (even through no fault of their own), to make it to one away game.

Another case of no 'ideal' solution that suits everyone all the time I guess. More likely that anyone logging on for 2 tickets will want them together and as you say someone being able to reserve say 10 'best available' dotted all over the place would be unfair on the rest in the queue.

If they have the necessary points, why would that be a problem?

Makes the random queue a bit less fair I guess ?
But anyone logging on today should get a ticket as top tier = allocation. So if someone bought 10 single tickets for people in the 10 tier is shouldn't make a difference. Tomorrow when the hoi polloi are able to by then yes!!!

Agree re T1......but the question arose in relation to using the 'best available' option, which (sensible) people do when there's a scramble (like tomorrow)

Well in theory they could make it so that if there are not 2 together they offer 2 apart. But as before needs to be a limit on that, maybe 3.

The best way is just everyone gets the equal chance at 9:00, the queuing is ridiculous and favours people who have millions of devices and no job

Having a 9am free-for-all also favours those with multiple devices, those with faster broadband speeds, the latest IOS and faster fingers.
