Tell you what, I'm bloody glad that Russian didn't stick his dirty money into the Albion. Pompey, I believe, are f***ed now. ALL (but don't quote me!) of the businesses that this Russian bloke has owned have folded through financial mismanagement. His dad's a crook, and has buried his Angolan arms money into his son's latest venture, Pompey.

I wonder how we would have faired with him owning 50% and Dick Knight a tried and trusted Brighton fan owning the other 50%of the shares. The best of both worlds money and a Brighton fan to control its spending on players etc.

Yeah, that would've been the only saving grace, cos Mandaric will sell his other half in a jiffy and let the Russian have total control.

Unfortunately 'Butterball' your interpretation of brilliance is a tad different to mine.

This club must immediately stop 'accepting' mediocrity.
McGhee accepts mediocrity
Players accept mediocrity
The fans (perhaps until yesterday) accept mediocrity
The fans attempts to create any sort of atmos (and i'm as guilty as any) is mediocre.

In any walk of life if you just accept mediocrity that is exactly what you will get or even less. I am realistic and understand all of the limitations the club operates under. But 'everyone' involved needs to aim that bit higher.

Yesterdays game lacked passion. Did anybody realise that it was 3RD ROUND FA CUP TIE this usually brings excitement for supporters but yesterday lacked any passion or atmosphere more so even than a league game with points at stake it was played ina an atmosphyere of a preseason/ end of season friendly.

I agree BG, its just so difficult at Withdean. I just don't know what the answer is, if any!

But if you go to games regularly, you should be aware that the lads had a much better game yesterday. Apart from the finishing. And McCammon, who strolled about like a complete cunt when he came on.

Yesterday's performance did not warrant booing, I'm sorry, it didn't.

I'm about the only f***ing person in F-Block who jumps up and shouts support for the boys. It's a morgue otherwise. If all the players hear is the odd solo shout of encouragement and then a load of boos after a game in which their performance has been good - and they've tried hard - then they'll be gutted.

Yes, our finishing was appalling yesterday, but we also came mighty close on a number of occasions, Carole's beautiful effort to name just one.

The players gave everything yesterday. Frutos was outstanding and so was Carole.

Sorry, a player who is consistently unable to lift the ball over the first defender even at crucial moments of the game (like in the final minute with our goalie up for the corner) cannot be described as "outstanding".

Agree that otherwise Carole played well, but this is a fundemental aspect ot the game and if he cannot do the job then someone else has to take the corners. He probably cost us an equaliser due to those shit corners,

Spot on, that is EXACTLY how I saw the game. There was PLENTY of passion on the pitch. As for the atmosphere off it, it's just so very hard at Withdean, but it was not nearly as bad as some games i've been to recently.

eastlondon - Your right the booing doesn't help. I think people are just becoming increasingly frustrated. Would you say it was the majority of people booing yesterday?

Not sure about majority, but it was certainly loud! I stood there clapping, and I think got a nod of acknowledgement from Bob Booker (unless it was a nervous tick!), but from where I was - behind the away dug-out - there was loud disapproval.

If people put as much volume into encouraging the team, it would probably work wonders.

We are just a very poor team, it's frustrating to sit there most weeks just knowing that we are not going to win :(

I gave a quick 3 second boo at the end. I paid my money and i'm entitled to.

We are crap its true. I just feel if people thought the team and management gave their all there wouldn't be the booing at the end.

We are a poor team because

1: We have a ground capacity of 7,700, with appalling facilities for fans, competing in a league with many clubs who average 20,000+ crowds each week.

This means

a) There is no atmosphere at the Withers as no roof.
b) We cannot compete with other clubs financially for players of the calibre that are needed to thrive in this division
c) When we do find decent players (Zamora, Harding and Virgo) there is no incentive for them to stay, in a shit heap of a stadium with Conference standard training and medical facilities.

2. The Falmer campaign has haemorraghed cash left, right and centre. This money ideally could have been spent on the playing squad, but thanks to the legacy left by Archer and Bellend, has left us with one hand tied behinds out back.

As for Russian billionaires wanting to invest in the club, that is a crock of shit. The Russians want a bit of glamour, to rub shoulders with the likes of Ferguson, Wenger and Mourinho, there is NO way they would bother with the crap pile that is fortress Withers. Don't delude yourself or try to delude us

El Pres thanks for the background lesson, I thought we were just discussing the pro's & con's of the performance, whether people thought booing was acceptable or otherwise and could we do better given our short comings.

If I had untold millions to put intoa club Brighton would be the kind of club I would be looking at because they would be cheap to buy and they can only go one way with money, upwards.

Just using that Russian or Marradonna as an example they could buy the club and build the gound for less than £50m or thereabouts invest another £20 million to guarantee promotion to the Premiership so for less than £70m they have moved from being a little club on the south coast to being one of the top 18 in England after that it is up to them and their money.

The big down side is our 'fickle support' as I have said many times we are guaranteed 5-6000 irrespective of division or position in that division of which I am just one but do not be under illusions about us filling Falmer every week as we will not unless we were in the Premiership and the visitors brought either a big crowd or a big name attraction i.e Man Utd Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham, Newcastle etc.

The players gave everything yesterday. Frutos was outstanding and so was Carole. But on the whole, they all worked hard.

Yes, McGhee made 2 massive tactical errors in pitchng Mayo against McSheffrey and subbing CKR who looked the only player capable of getting a goal - but we all make mistakes.

However, the point is, we were very unlucky. We had 17 goal attempts to Coventry's 5, the players worked really hard and we were the better side throughout and played attractive, attacking football.

Too boo a perfomance like that at the end is an absolute disgrace and an insult to the players. How these people who participated can call themselves true supporters is beyond me.

We sweat our guts out for our wages, have bills to pay, mortgage etc, while they kick a bag of wind around and have an easy life. I think we are entitled to voice our f***ing opinions when and how we like. I'd like them to get up at 5am every morning and return home at 7pm 5 days a week for a f***ing pittance.

I'll boo and shout when ever I feel they deserve it if I've paid money I can ill afford at the best of times.

Fair comment, but, whilst on the subject, could you leave an extra two pints of semi-skimmed tomorrow.
