1: I do know what they were being paid, as after building my extension, I gave their employer a reference for a lottery funded job for a sports ground. They had to disclose salary details as part of the tender process, and I was on the decision panel. The Polish workers were on similar money to tenders from other builders using non Polish labour.

2: The quote I had was far from being the lowest, the firm involved came highly recommended though, and part of the praise was the quality of their labour force.

Given a choice between an excellent indigenous labour force, and an excellent migrant one, I would like to go for the locals. But if it is a choice between an excellent job done by the Poles, or a half arsed one done by Brits, then I'll take the former.

That is fair enough and I was chuckling when I was typing my other comment to you. I was having a bit of a laugh as I can't take all this BNP talk seriously. I of course would like some loyalty to the English worker, but at the same time I have worked abroad and have family living in other countries, so would be a bit hypocrytical of me to demand anything else.

According to my Dad's research I am predominatly Norman and Norweigan. Not much Anglo Saxon from our direct ancestors. Thank God. They were muppets. Fell for that, "oh look, the Normans are running away - up the hill" manoevre that led to their slaughter at Hastings.

Where are humans from?

Human history is a history of migration. I consider myself a true English man. Yet, my mother was born in Scotland. Her father was Born in Poland (moved over during the war) his farther was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire - even though it was the same town. Just diferent times made him a different nationality. My Great Great Grand mother was born in Ireland. So going back only 3 generations. I have 1/2 Scotish, 1/4 Polish and a 1/3 Irish. Hardley any English at all.

When you look at it, though 'England' exists, 'English' does not. English people are mixture (as someone has already said) of French, German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegen well most of Europe. Its why we are infact the greatest country in the world. Because we managed to MIX all the good things about those people (art, ships, war) and created us.

Also when you look at HISTORY again (its so dam important to know your histroy) you will see that the English language is made up of German french and Greek.

All from migration.

But, should imigration be limitless. No it should'nt.
