I am not saying they are not polite or even unworthy of the work. But out of interest how do you know what their employer paid them?
Funny how you went with that company? Were they one of the cheaper quotes you had.
1: I do know what they were being paid, as after building my extension, I gave their employer a reference for a lottery funded job for a sports ground. They had to disclose salary details as part of the tender process, and I was on the decision panel. The Polish workers were on similar money to tenders from other builders using non Polish labour.
2: The quote I had was far from being the lowest, the firm involved came highly recommended though, and part of the praise was the quality of their labour force.
Given a choice between an excellent indigenous labour force, and an excellent migrant one, I would like to go for the locals. But if it is a choice between an excellent job done by the Poles, or a half arsed one done by Brits, then I'll take the former.
