Left out of Leeds squad yesterday and last week, many fans saying he's played his last game....... Look at this Hint from Simon Grayson in their local rag yesterday??? (of course for other reasons!)

http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/latest-whites-news/leeds_united_grayson_drops_a_hint_over_paynter_s_future_1_3782977

Unofficial Leeds forum quoting official club sources on twitter reckon he might leaving and fans reckon he may be coming here???? Gus has a habit of eventually getting his targets even if not at first.....

tbh I wasn't overly keen on deadline day, but after yesterday, I'd take him in a flash

Don't really see the point,we can't find a place for Will Hoskins in the squad.

and if he comes...who's being dropped..and who's being left off the bench?

Its speculation, probably based on Grayson radio interview where he dropped the hint about Paynter being able to leave after Brighton game. IF he came, he would have no direct competition for the type of player he is..... more like a Glenn Murray or Chris wood, a striker with physical presence, able to hold it up and maybe good in the air??

CMS will start if he's fit.

Barnes will be in competiton with Hoskins for 1 spot (if Poyet wants that type of attacking formation for a given match).

(Vicente, Noone, Buckley and Kaz - pick your 2 from 4 wide men).

Paynter would be a different type of player and option for certain games, not like anyone else we have.

More different types of options the better...... but it is still 'reading between the lines' speculation.

So if Murray had stayed and we take Paynter on loan this would have meant Murray being 6th choice striker after CMS , Hoskins , Barnes , Vicente and Paynter.

This is what I'm hearing from every Leeds fan. think we've dodged a bullet - however if Gus rates him..

Good player, no doubt - but would he want to come if he wasn't guaranteed a starting place? It seems to me that we have attacking options still to be tested - the Wills, particularly Hoskins, have hardly featured yet, and Vicente not at all. We may well have to consider playing 4-5-1 in this league - with two wingers out wide, especially on our big pitch at the Amex - and Hoskins seems quite capable of looking after himself as a lone striker IF he gets the right delivery and players coming through to support.
We apparantly got Hoskins in because Wood was 'sorted', and we let Murray go - perhaps Gus doesn't want a target man as such? Personally, I would like one - but acknowledge that Gus knows more than I do (a hell of a lot more, actually!)

Is Hoskins actually fit?

Surely he would have been on the bench if he was

I'm only going on what Gus said Friday about the ones coming back to fitness will have to wait.I can't see how Paynter would get straight in ahead of Hoskins if we signed him.

I'd take Gus' opinion every time. It's all very well Leeds fan saying he's shit but they play a different style of football to us. Plus, I bet a year ago, after he'd just had that great year at Swindon everyone would have been raving about signing him.

Hoskins couldn't have been fit yesterday. I can't imagine any manager would willing naming 1 goalkeeper, 1 defender and 3 midfielders on the bench if Hoskins was fit.
We need options upfront. Not saying what we have isn't good enough but we WILL pick up injuries and suspensions and we are just don't have any strength in depth upfront.

I don't think it would be a case of one getting in, in front of the other..... for some matches and opposition Gus may want one specific tactic, for another match another tactic. Hoskins and Paynter are different types of forwards who offer different options for different games.

Whoever Gus starts a match with, Barnes/Hoskins? if like Saturday, somethings missing or not firing would a different type of player work better?

Kaz on for last 20 mins yesterday, beat the final defender whipped it in a few times and provided service that had been missing (as at Bristol City), but the same 2 smallish forwards who had been muscled out the whole match were still our only forward options........who is going to get their head on Kaz's crosses against 6ft 5 monsters, or hold it up to play CMS or Barnes in?

The option of a Paynter, Wood or anyone like that may prove handy in some games, especially when we're chasing the match??

I didn't go yesterday, but I am guessing that when we were under the cosh having a player to hold the ball up would have been pretty handy. We need a forward "with presence" to play alongside CMS... fact

Vicente is a winger and I would probably have Murray 2nd out of the others to be fair...

Gus has already said that Vicente is able to play as a striker in a 442 and anywhere in midfield not necessarily just out on the wing.

I'm not having a pop, I just thought if he was fit then he'd have been on the bench as an option. He's listed as injured in yesterday's argus - this injury he had/has is his adductor(sp) muscle, same one Torres injured and took ages to fully recover from I think. If hoskins isn't fit we really do need another striking option, 2 strikers at this level is just not enough.
