I didn't go yesterday, but I am guessing that when we were under the cosh having a player to hold the ball up would have been pretty handy. We need a forward "with presence" to play alongside CMS... fact

I came to a similar conclusion watching the game yesterday, always useful to have options.

No. Inside knowledge from living near Swindon. Even Swindon fans didn't rate him very highly. Charlie Austin was always their big hero.

I don't think he fits the Gus mould, however, a presumptuous post I agree.

How many fans DO want to see him?

If Gus does, I do.

I have to admit I wasn't overly keen before, I hoped more for someone else to fit that mould...... but I will trust Gus. I didn't like Chris Wood particularly either, but some did and more importantly Gus did.

Don't forget Leeds were playing Paynter often in a 4-5-1. How good would CMS be in that system?? not very.

Vassel doesn't score many for Leicester, but he was awesome at backing in and playing in others. Maybe in a different system where Paynter is not the lead loan striker but a link player for others he may be more like Swindon than Leeds?

Emile Heskey was never prolific but Rooney said he played better and scored more with Heskey's physical presence alongside him.

I'd take Gus' opinion every time. It's all very well Leeds fan saying he's shit but they play a different style of football to us. Plus, I bet a year ago, after he'd just had that great year at Swindon everyone would have been raving about signing him.

I wudnt call Buckley and lua lua midfielders exactly

So if Murray had stayed and we take Paynter on loan this would have meant Murray being 6th choice striker after CMS , Hoskins , Barnes , Vicente and Paynter.

WE could have done with Murray on Saturday both in attack and defence. Don't remember us winning a meaningful header up front.

Bad news for Hoskins then, probably wouldn't even make the bench. Hope he gets a run to prove himself sometime soon.

Not necessarily, Adgestein and Bergkamp aren't in contention for the first team, so we've only really got 3 strikers atm.

So if Paynter was playing, you'd assume that Barnes would be on the bench with either Lua Lua or Noone, Brezovan, another midfielder, Vincelot, where would that leave Hoskins?

After Saturday's performance, and I don't mean that in any derisory way, Hoskins has just got to be started with AB on the bench !

Wasn't there but is Hoskins up to covering for the defence like Barnes is asked to do? From the commentary it seemed Barnes was being used to help shore up a wobbly defence rather than being played as an out and out striker??
