"I'm not surprised Brighton and Southampton are doing so well in the Championship. Both have been restructured and, having been promoted, are on the crest of a wave.
"They've both done some shrewd business and I beleive they've proved the difference between League One and the Championship is not that great. Brighton have underlined their ambition by signing CMS and Vicente, the former Valencia winger. He must have compromised on his demands because when I enquired about him it was too much for us financially"
My question is this - Did Vicente and CMS really sacrifice larger wage packets at bigger clubs or does Bloom just wish us to think this to stop him being held to ransom by other clubs when negotiating for players? It's nice to think Vicente joined us in our wage structure and turned down an offer for three times the money, but I wonder if this is really the case?
Perhaps we are spending bigger time than we realise but sensibly keeping a low profile about it!
I found an artcile from January on-line the other day. It was about Blackburn laucnhing an 'ambitious' bid to lure Vicente. If the signing is ambitious for a Premier League club, what does it make the signing for us?
I think we're going for it in a bigger way than we all realise - and I think that's fantastic.
